A dangerous drug disguised as a natural product
Marketing a dangerous drug under the guise of an apparently natural product is a particularly serious phenomenon, according to a joint statement by the Ministry of Health and the Israel Police. This phenomenon exposes the public to significant health risks, sometimes without the consumers being even aware that they are consuming a dangerous drug. Laboratory tests revealed that the seized products contained methamphetamine, a dangerous synthetic substance known for its high addictive potential and the risk it poses to public health and human life.
Wine products are prohibited by law.
According to the joint statement, extracts and preparations containing substances derived from the winepress plant, including drops, drinks and capsules, are included in the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance. Their consumption, marketing and production are prohibited by law. The Ministry of Health and the Israel Police call on the public to refrain from purchasing and consuming products marketed as products derived from the winepress plant, including products marketed under the name "winepress drops". The authorities also call on the public to report to enforcement authorities any suspicion of marketing or distribution of these products.
