"Alzaim Tahina" – Call for product recall due to concerns about salmonella

(haipo) The Tahina Al-Zaim company is calling on the public to return its tahini products after laboratory tests found salmonella bacteria. The Ministry of Health said the products were imported into Israel and marketed in violation of the law.

Which grinding products are included in the return?

The recall applies to “Alzaim Tahina” products of all sizes, marketed by the “Alzaim Tahina” company. The label also includes the words “Old-fashioned Tahina.”

The return includes the products according to the following details:

• Product Name: Tahini Alzaim
• contents: All sizes available
• Marketer: Tahini Alzaim
• Manufacturing date: All production dates up to and including October 1, 2026
• Expiry Date: All expiration dates up to and including October 1, 2027

Ministry of Health: Products found contaminated with Salmonella

According to a statement from the Ministry of Health, as part of an inspection by the Food Service in the Northern District, it was found that tahini products were imported into Israel and marketed in violation of legal provisions. Laboratory tests conducted on the products revealed the salmonella bacteria.

In coordination with the Food Service at the Ministry of Health, the marketer collects the products from the marketing channels.

The Ministry of Health warns: Do not consume the products.

The Salmonella bacteria can cause an illness that manifests itself in fever, diarrhea, sometimes bloody diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In rare cases, complications may develop.

The risk is particularly significant among susceptible populations, including young children, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems. In these populations, the disease can be severe and even fatal.
