(haipo) – The State Attorney's Office filed an indictment with the Haifa District Juvenile Court against two minors from Kiryat Motzkin, aged 14 and 16, who, according to the indictment, had contact with a foreign agent acting on behalf of Iran, carried out photography assignments for him and sprayed graffiti, and even tried to recruit additional minors for the activity.

A serious espionage case is exposed in Haifa and the Kiryat Shmona: The Haifa District Attorney's Office filed an indictment with the Haifa District Juvenile Court against two minors, residents of Kiryat Motzkin, who, according to the indictment, carried out missions for a person acting on behalf of Iranian intelligence agencies, in exchange for payments of hundreds of shekels.
According to the indictment, filed by Attorney Ilan Gamburg of the Haifa District Attorney's Office, the affair began in June 2026, when one of the minors made contact through a Telegram group that dealt with job searching with a person who introduced himself as "Daniel."
According to the indictment, the same person offered the minor various tasks for payment. The minor later joined his friend in the activity, and the two performed some of the tasks together.
Photographing shopping malls and collecting information
As part of the connection, it is alleged, one of the minors was asked to photograph various places in Israel. Among other things, he photographed malls in the Herzliya and Tel Aviv areas. In one of the assignments, according to the indictment, the minor was not content with photographing the location and also provided the agent with information regarding the number of entrances and exits in the mall and the number of security guards there.
According to the prosecutor's office, after one of the filming assignments, the minor deleted the videos he had sent, fearing that the agent would use them to carry out an attack.
Spraying graffiti
Later, according to the indictment, the two minors carried out another task together, spraying graffiti in the Kiryat Motzkin area. They then sent the agent a recording of the graffiti that was sprayed. It is also alleged that at one point one of the minors asked the person who had activated him if he was Iranian. According to the indictment, the agent replied that he was connected to Iran, but even after the minor knew this, the contact with him continued.
They tried to recruit additional minors.
According to the indictment, the activity did not end with the missions the two carried out themselves. They later worked to expand the activity and recruit others. One of the minors, it is alleged, used his friend's Telegram account and posed as a soldier in Unit 8200, in order to receive additional missions. In addition, following the agent's request to recruit additional people, the minor worked to establish a Telegram channel and asked his friend to add minors who would be willing to carry out missions that were defined as "high risk."
In exchange for their activities, according to the indictment, the minors received payments of hundreds of shekels, including through cryptocurrencies.
Serious security violations
According to the indictment, one of the minors is charged with the offenses of contact with a foreign agent, three offenses of providing information to the enemy, and vandalism of real estate. The other minor is charged with the offenses of assisting in contact with a foreign agent and vandalism of real estate.
The case illustrates the risk inherent in attempts by foreign intelligence agencies to recruit young people through social media and groups offering "jobs" for money.
