The Haifa Economic Society promotes economic moves with Fort Lauderdale, Florida and deepens cooperation with twin cities
The chairman of the Haifa Economic Society and a member of the City Council, Rani Bender, went on a private trip, during which he held a working visit to the city of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he met with Mayor Dean J. Trantalis and his office staff, with the aim of deepening economic and academic cooperation between the twin cities.
During the meeting, the parties agreed to promote a series of joint steps that will strengthen ties between Haifa and Fort Lauderdale, including exposing Haifa startups in the fields of Defense Tech, Blue Tech, and Health Tech to investors and funds in South Florida, developing projects in the field of Tourism Tech, as well as promoting student exchange programs and academic collaborations between higher education institutions in the two cities.
Fort Lauderdale, located on the Atlantic coast, is considered one of the main and developing cities in South Florida, and has approximately 170 residents of a high socioeconomic status..
Chairman of the company Haifa Economic Affairs Minister, Rani Bender: "Haifa continues to strengthen its position as an international innovation city and create strategic connections with leading cities in the world. The collaboration with Fort Lauderdale will allow Haifa companies to be exposed to new business opportunities in the American market, along with creating academic and tourist connections that will contribute to both cities. We see great importance in making the twin city ties a real engine of economic growth, innovation and international ties."

Additionally, a delegation of investors and businesspeople from Fort Lauderdale is expected to arrive in Haifa next year, with the aim of being exposed to the city's companies, technologies, and growth engines.

Hopefully Binder saw that Fort Lauderdale is everything that Haifa's coastal neighborhoods are not:
– It maintained a wide strip of open beaches without construction
– Since the early 1920s, almost 250 km of water canals have been built on the marshes that were drained in the bay. I wish Kiryat Haim and the Bay of Haifa would also use water canals and the Kishon River to create neighborhoods on the water and the quality of life of a maritime city with yachts and entertainment along the coast.
– It also used the canals to build private moorings with thousands of spaces for yachts
– It prevented the construction of excessively tall towers that would cast shadows on the beaches and canals (exactly what would happen in Bat Galim).
– Strong residents' committees that work to prevent overcrowding, construction that is too high and inappropriate for transportation infrastructure
Trying to understand there were meetings in the past.. What's the point?
