The Haifa Congress Center, one of the city's most prominent symbols, has undergone a significant facelift in recent months. Matam, jointly owned by Haifa Economic Company and Gav-Yam Company, has completed the first phase of the complex's upgrade, which includes a new lobby, upgraded entrances and renovated public services, with an investment of approximately NIS 5 million. This is the first step in a broad initiative aimed at strengthening the center's status as a leading hub for conferences, culture, exhibitions and business events in Israel.

A strategic move to strengthen Haifa's position
The project is part of a comprehensive plan by the Haifa Economic Company, Gav-Yam and MTAMM, which is intended to improve the congress center and adapt it to the most advanced standards. In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the scope of activity at the center, with the return of conferences, shows and exhibitions to the city, a trend that has led municipal bodies to invest in infrastructure and upgrade the visitor experience.

Mayor of Haifa, Yona Yahav, emphasized the importance of the move: "The renewal of the Congress Center is part of a broad concept of investing in municipal assets and strengthening Haifa's status as a vibrant, innovative and attractive city. We are investing in infrastructure that generates growth and provides residents and tens of thousands of visitors with a visiting experience of the highest level."
An upgrade that starts at the entrance

Chairman of the Haifa Economic Society, Rani Bender, noted that the upgrade is noticeable from the first moment: "This is a significant move that will improve the visitors' experience from the moment they enter the center. The Congress Center is a strategic asset for the city and the entire metropolis. Completing this phase is an important step, and later we will consider upgrading the main hall."

CEO of the Haifa Economic Company, Hanan Markowitz, He added that the move was intended to strengthen the center's ability to compete for events on a national scale: "Through Matam and together with Gav-Yam, we promoted a process of renewal and improvement of the center with the goal of strengthening its status and bringing major conferences and performances here."
New events are on the way
Last month, the Congress Center began hosting the summer event "Wonderful World of Animals," designed for children in the Haifa metropolitan area and their families. The event joins a rich schedule of activities that take place at the complex throughout the year, and illustrates the center's potential as a leading cultural and events center.
Looking ahead: The Congress Center is on the way to a new era
The completion of the current renovation phase is a significant milestone in the renewal process of the Congress Center. The goal is clear: to ensure that the center continues to be one of the most advanced and leading in Israel in the years to come, and to establish Haifa as the metropolis of the north, a city of culture, innovation, and international events.

A leading center for conferences and culture.
The massive failure of the convention center has been going on for decades. In a small hall and too little multipurpose space
No serious exhibition can be hosted there. It's a wedding hall, after all.
And artists also want to perform in large halls with 10 seats, not 2000.
Lots of praise for the renovation.
But the main thing is that the December opera in Haifa was canceled due to a lack of budget after many years of spectacular operas!
What a shame and a pity!
