(haipo) The Haifa City Council approved on Tuesday (5/5/26) a lease agreement between the Haifa Municipality and the Haifa Economic Company, for two plots of land on Sapir Street in Check Post, covering approximately 15 dunams, for the purpose of establishing a new medical and employment complex that is expected to serve as a significant economic and employment growth engine for the city and the entire northern metropolis.
A large-scale medical complex with a hospital, rehabilitation centers and geriatric services
The Haifa Economic Company intends to publish a tender in the near future for the establishment of a medical services complex, including a hospital, rehabilitation centers, geriatric services, clinics and other advanced health services, in accordance with the approved plan on the land. In the long term, and subject to the necessary planning and approval procedures, the project is expected to develop into a large-scale real estate complex of up to 90 square meters. The complex is expected to provide medical services to residents of Haifa, the Krayot, Nazareth and the entire northern metropolis, while creating employment and growth engines in the city.
Strategic location with high transport accessibility
The plots are located in a strategic central location, adjacent to the Gulf Center and the train station, at the northern exit of the Carmel Tunnels, in close proximity to major traffic routes, Highway 4 and Highway 75, as well as the Haifa Cable Car. This location provides particularly high transport accessibility from the entire Haifa metropolitan area and the north.

Hanan Markovich, CEO of the Haifa Economic Company, noted that "the approval of the agreement constitutes a significant step in advancing one of the company's strategic projects. We see great importance in developing advanced medical infrastructure in the city, which will provide required services to residents, while strengthening the local economy and the company's business. We will work to publish a professional and comprehensive tender that will attract leading players from all over the country in the field of healthcare."
The project is expected to add approximately 3,500 jobs.
Mayor of Haifa, Yona Yahav, said: "I see the development of the project as of utmost importance, as it is expected to add approximately 3,500 jobs in Haifa. It is also worth remembering that Haifa is the only city with two faculties of medicine, at the university and at the Technion, and it is only natural that graduates will integrate into the various medical centers in the city. I am confident that the project will contribute significantly to the economic development of the city and strengthen Haifa's status as an advanced medical center, which will attract many entrepreneurs and users, and strengthen the city's economic status."
An investment of approximately one billion shekels
Haifa Municipality Director General, David Luria, said that "the approval of the agreement is a significant milestone in realizing Haifa's development vision. This is a strategic project that connects an advanced healthcare system with urban employment and growth engines. The unique location, high transportation accessibility and the scope of the planned development are all expected to make the complex a central anchor in the city and the region."

Rani Bender, Chairman of the Haifa Economic Society, He added that "the company is now promoting an urban project for employment, commercial, office and hotel uses, worth approximately NIS 1 billion. The plots on Sapir Street in Check Post constitute a significant opportunity to promote a project with high urban and economic value, and are part of a series of investments in commercial-urban real estate that we are promoting this year."

Must bring Rambam Hospital to this exact location
You forgot that in the heart of the bay is Assuta Hospital.
The check post looks like one big trash can.
Look at the picture. Bridges, roads, soot, dirt, gray buildings.
The most disgusting place, a place that was supposed to be a bustling urban center full of life, like any other city, has become a real trash can for infrastructure, petrochemical stench, sewage, sales centers and agencies in ugly buildings with broken sidewalks and pedestrians who just want to escape Histadrut Boulevard.
They want to build a hospital there in this mess???
Why not do it in the Krayots too??????There is no access to any hospital there!!!!!
A medical center under the chimneys of Bazan!!!! Hahaha joke..
I recall that the establishment of a small medical center in the heart of the bay was hindered by the proximity to the nuisances of the municipal landfill. I am not talking about the air pollution. There is no chance that the Ministry of Health will approve the establishment of a hospital in such a location.
Excellent. Next to all the pollution emitted by the industrial chemical complex. This will be a catalyst for geriatrics. I wonder who came up with this great idea.
Well done, Jonah.
Let's assume for a moment that the beautiful plan comes to fruition: Where will there be doctors who, in their right mind, would choose to risk their health by working daily in the polluted Bay Area?
Understand this: Removing polluting industries, primarily in the ZAN, should be the first step in rehabilitating the city and the region. Without this, all plans are just talk and nothing more.
When we say plan, all considerations are taken into account. And the BZN is under continuous supervision and monitored by the Haifa Association of Cities.
I did not understand
K. Atta says she is building a hospital
Shafram says it's in her territory
And now it's in the Gulf? In traffic jams?
Is there approval from the Ministry of Health? Or is it still in the dream stage?
Every piece of land has its purpose.
You can assume that all considerations are being examined.
And it's always fun to dream.
