(haipo) - At a press conference held today, Thursday 6/6/24 in Haifa Municipality, Mayor Yona Yahav reviewed the situation in the city, two months after he took office, to the journalists - the steps being taken to restore the situation in the city, the handling of the pig problem, the security situation and more.
Yahav began the meeting with an overview of the difficult financial situation in which the municipality is and the difficult and difficult work imposed on the employees and public representatives due to the situation. "I hope we will be able to overcome it when we start building and developing the city," Yahav said and explained "We are trying to do things even outside the budget through fundraising and donations as we did in previous terms."
The mayor's deputy mayor Sophie Nakash, who was in the meeting with Yahav, added regarding the budget:
We started building the budget from the day we were elected. Establishing a municipal budget for the third largest city in Israel within a month and a half is a very difficult and complex process, because for the past six months almost no action has been taken in the financial field and we are also in a very difficult time both in the state and in the authority. We started a rehabilitation process with the government ministries and we have commitments we signed with the Histadrut that have a budgetary impact, but everything we do will not harm the resident because we have an agenda to serve the residents.
Recognition of Haifa as a mixed city
During the two months in which Yahav returned to serve as mayor again, he had time to meet with government ministers, including the finance minister, who held a meeting on his own initiative: "He invited us and was cooperative. He sat down with Pinx and said tell me what you want and I will try to fulfill everything. I must state that I have never seen him earlier and I didn't meet him before that but it was a good surprise and I said I would take full advantage of it," says Yahav, adding that he also met with the Minister of Absorption and the Minister of the Negev and the Galilee and they recognized Haifa as a mixed city and that it has significance.
Cafes around the hangar in the Indian port
Yahav says: "Luckily there are many people knocking on the door who want to invest and build on a large scale and we are also lucky with the Indian billionaire Gautam Adani who purchased the port. He fell in love with the city of Haifa and is ready to help invest and build. He developed the Hangar 15 that we used in previous terms. They removed all the dangers from the roof, painted it nicely and opened it for shows.
I asked that there be cafes around the hangar so that people who come to the show will stay and not leave after it ends and be part of the general being that is created in the port. At the port, they started planning a passenger hall that would be the most modern in Europe, certainly in the Mediterranean, and all things are done in cooperation.''
Museum of collections at sea
Yahav stated that he wants to continue the initiative he started in his previous term - to build a large museum in the sea with real collections and there is already an entrepreneur who wants to do it. On Monday 10/6/24 he brings Calatrava - a Spanish architect and engineer and he will see what he will propose in terms of a sketch: "I told the entrepreneur that I want the museum to be more beautiful than the Sami Ofer stadium. If the stadium is chosen among the three most beautiful stadiums in the world, the museum should be more than it ".
"Within a month we will bring you proven success"
One of the issues that concern the Haifa public is the issue of pigs. An issue that Mayor Yona Yahav pledged to address in his election campaign. He promised that within 90 days the pigs would disappear from the public space in the city. There are 22 days left for the commitment and at the meeting Yahav promised to hold a press conference in a month where he will announce the promised success.
Until that happens, he shared that he hates every moment that the wild boar has become a symbol of Haifa: "I hope that within a month we can bring proven success. The number of overturned bins has decreased by 50% from 217 to 122. We want to completely get rid of the pigs."
The war robs us of sleep
Yahav referred to the war and said: "We are at war and it keeps us awake. We are following what is happening in the north. A remote activation system has been installed in the public shelters to open them, including in Kiryat Haim where the system will be activated both when there are alarms in Haifa and when there are alarms in the surrounding cities. Therefore, it is possible that the system will be activated even when there are no falls or danger In Kiryat Haim. We are trying to talk to the military authorities, but there is still no coherent plan.'
Referring to the evacuees he said: "We host the residents of the north and I visit them from time to time. It is not easy for families to live in a hotel. Metula and Kiryat Shmona are almost destroyed. The enemy is making a range of these cities, which causes many evacuees to tell me that they have nothing to return to and it is a huge loss."
The political demonstrations will be held in Jerusalem ► Watch
In response to the journalists' questions:
To the question regarding the relocation of Carmel Hospital to Kiryat Ata - Yahav: "He left Haifa over my dead body."
To the question about personal security, the crime that flows into the city and the municipal policing - Yahav: "During my time it was quiet and we want to renew it. We have a meeting with the police and the Minister of National Security and I am sure that we will go ahead with this meeting when we have such a large-scale patrol to ensure personal and environmental security."
To the question about maintaining the peace while exercising the right to hold demonstrations and freedom of speech - Yahav: "I don't think that freedom of expression should be exercised in Haifa. These are political demonstrations and should be held in the capital of Israel, Jerusalem. Just as we arrested them during my time at Check Post, we will do it this time as well."
To the question about the annexation of Kiryat Haim to Kiryat Bialik, an issue that was revealed and published for the first time in Hai Pa - Yahav: "There will be no change in Kiryat Haim's status."
Tsiki Avisher talks about connecting Kiryat Haim to Motzkin ► Watch
Regarding the appointment of a mayor for the city of Haifa - Yahav: "We have been without a chief rabbi for 10 years and I didn't think I needed a chief rabbi. I would love to have one, but there is no candidate."
I wish Kiryat Bialik would annex Kiryat Haim. Kiryat Haim will be cleaner, with parks for the release of dogs that are organized and equipped, in the one wretched place that is on Hanoter Street. With trash cans, benches and facilities for bags to collect the dog's excrement. That I won't have to call the hotline to collect trash from the street. This is the role of the municipality and not of the citizen... that cars will not park on the sidewalks and there is no way for pedestrians walking on the road.
Among the pigs there is no golden dove
A violent and murderous municipality
Nature will take revenge in Haifa
Glad you left!
You and your kind are not missing at all.
Neither do the pigs.
And enough for chemistry!
On the topic of wild boars. As a response to the article on the subject: https://haipo.co.il/item/519324
Zero quality of life. Cars block sidewalks for children in the neighborhood who have to go to school on the road.
Entrances to neighborhoods are blocked because of the '20 minute move' all the time, people go out, enter the parking lots and the neighborhood is blocked or stand on the road until the deed comes out. We have to throw out the 20 minute move, this is the #1 nuisance at the entrances to neighborhoods in the ridge.
Pigs that drive on 4.
Load them on trucks and send them to Gaza as humanitarian aid, this will also help them get rid of the Hamas garbage.
You will find a legitimate living area for pigs in the territory of Israel!
And pass them with anesthetic injections!
You just have to make sure that the living area has fruit and grain and, of course, good water!
They come to the city because the wild beaches are dried up from water and edible plants and they and their offspring are in danger simply hungry and thirsty!
Don't lie like many other damn politicians!
Yahav you are just talking
The city is dead and you're just burying it
Retire and let the youth lead
Fear of walking in Carmel that pigs will trample on you
In any case
What about the promise of a cable car on Saturday?
You don't have to, Mr. Yahav, well done, Haifa finally wakes up and receives treatment.
As soon as you called him master you became a slave
The supervised citizen - for close supervision!
Did you want Yahav? The main thing is to have a mayor from the left?
So this is what you got. We stayed in the mud.
It's time to hold a demonstration about everything that's happening here in Haifa, enough to gag!!!
In the meantime, the one who is destroying is you and your protesting friends. You will be ashamed instead of supporting and helping in times of weakness and difficulty. You don't know how to do anything except shout and go to demonstrations.
Yahav, you are destroying Haifa, you have destroyed and you continue to destroy some more beauty that will prevent you from breathing more diseases, cancer, the karma that will come upon you, Amen for all the destruction you are causing in Haifa!!! And we say Amen!!! You can't shoot pigs without a humane when they are dying this nightmare just thinking about what they go through until they die makes you realize how evil you are!!! And all those who justify it one day when your day comes don't forget karma because it always comes a matter of time everyone gets a taste of it!!!!!!
stop rambling
There are close to 10-15 pigs walking around every day in the wadi between Yad Labin, Raziel and Par streets. It doesn't seem like the municipality recognizes them at all...
My fellow Haifaites, in the 3 months since you elected Yona Yahav, these are the three positive things you will probably receive during his term:
1. Fewer pigs
2. More cleaning and gardening
3. Street events and festivals
And according to the prevailing thinking bias in our districts, this is also what will make you believe and remember him as a "successful" mayor.
But you should know that you will also receive this from Yona Yahav - the things that will perpetuate Haifa's being a poor, sick, elderly, nerfed, soulless, faltering and deprived of all passion and zeal for life and action:
• You chose Yona Yahav - you will get a continuous stagnation of the economic and entrepreneurial development.
• You chose Yona Yahav - you will receive a continued flight of businesses from the city.
• You chose Yona Yahav - you will get a shuffle in the offer of new and high-quality jobs.
• You chose Yona Yahav - you will get poor urban planning and development and a slowdown in the number of construction starts.
• You chose Yona Yahav - you will receive continued deterioration in the availability and quality of public education.
• You chose Yona Yahav - you will get an acceleration of negative immigration of young people and strong populations.
• You chose Yona Yahav - you will receive an acceleration of positive immigration of weak populations - including Haredim and Arabs.
• You chose Yona Yahav - you will get a halt to the process of evacuating the factories and the continuation of air pollution and excess morbidity.
• You chose Yona Yahav - you will receive outdated physical infrastructure and a decline in the quality of municipal services.
• You chose Yona Yahav - you will get a backward and outdated road system and faltering public transportation.
• You chose Yona Yahav - you will get shaky personal security and increased violence in the public sphere.
• You chose Yona Yahav - you will accept the continued existence of closed neighborhoods with a serious safety risk for the residents.
• You chose Yona Yahav - you will get fights and friction with the central government and the continued relegation of Haifa to the bottom of the national investment and development priority table.
• You chose Yona Yahav - you will get a mayor who creates a lot of appearance of caring and doing without caring and without real doing.
• You chose Yona Yahav - you will get proof that the majority can also make big mistakes, even if it is the majority...
And good luck to us.
(And for all those who click - I suggest to cut and save for the benefit of the records and history)
On the issue of pigs, the city will pay a lot more, Yona, we will not forget that the invasion of the city began during your long term as mayor. You just want to eliminate by force of arms even though there are quite a few humane programs to remove the pigs from the city streets and return them to the forests and nature reserves.
All in the name of greed, I wish you that the pigs screaming from the shots will haunt you in your dreams and not give your conscience a minute of rest.
You returned to the mayor's office to finish what you started, the destruction of the capital city of the north. There used to be dreams of Tel Aviv here, now we are under the pressure of the new Acre.
The sharp-eyed will notice two headlines:
1. The Minister of Finance met with the mayor and agreed on a budget for the city
2. The demonstrations in the city will stop
Does anyone feel a correlation between the above? Is it just me?
It's hard for me to understand how Haifa people fall into political traps every time.
not everyone. Unfortunately, reality will make it clear to them who the man is. If 15 years of failure did not help
Well done to you, my friend Yona Yahav, the mayor of Haifa has opened
The matter of the pigs is not dismissed by shooting them, and letting them die.
It's just awful. There are more humane ways like giving an injection.
Why is a shot more humane than a shooting?
morning light Why don't you think about the situation of the wild boars "as souls with rights"???. Where did their living areas in Carmel go??. in the construction of towers at their expense ??. The food source is running out?!! "Shooting pigs in cold blood??. Are they looking for food??." "They have a soul like every creature in the universe." They have the right to exist in a proper way and not to be murdered in cold blood, because they are looking for food??!!. It is advisable to think of another place to live for them , live !!!.
The reasoning that the area is on their account is superficial and an ideology in the shekel. The population grew, the area did not. People have to live somewhere. Construction is inevitable.
You've done enough damage to Yona City
Quit and go home
Where will we get another one like Adon Yahav? So you and your friends better fly.
