Last night (Wednesday 22/07/21) 99 green sea otters were released into the wild at the Hoof Galim nature reserve.
Nature and Parks Authority inspector Shay Kabasa opened the nest and allowed the turtles to reach the sea safely.
The green sea turtle is one of the two species of sea turtles that nest on Israel's Mediterranean coast. His limbs are adapted for swimming as fins. His head is narrow and his armor is smooth with beautiful shades of black, gray, green and brown. It is called a green sea turtle because of its greenish body fat, which got its color due to its mainly vegetarian diet. At maturity, its armor is about a meter long and its weight can reach 150 kg.
The green sea turtle swims long distances between the feeding areas and the breeding areas.
