"Naot" beach lifeguards helped save a giant sea turtle that was hit in the head
On Wednesday, August 23.8.23, XNUMX, the rescue station team at "Hoof Naut", under the management of Meir Kadosh, identified a sea turtle in distress in the depths of the sea.
The treatment of the sea turtle
The lifeguards of the station went out on a jet ski and sped towards the turtle and when they got to it they noticed that the turtle was injured in the head. The rescuers managed to get the giant turtle to the beach and called inspectors from the "Nature and Parks Authority", who arrived in a short time and collected the turtle for further treatment and rehabilitation.
Kudos to the helpers in the craft
The Director of the Coastal Division, Yehiel (Hilik) Amsalem praised the lifeguards' commitment to protecting the animals in the coastal environment and the dedicated and sensitive care of the sea turtle.
Shai Kabasa, marine unit inspector at the Nature and Parks Authority:
Time after time, the vigilance of the lifeguards at the 'Hoof Naut' rescue station saves the lives of turtles. It is very important to mention that you should not return the turtle to the water or remove the net yourself for fear of contamination from improper removal which can cause necrosis and even death of the turtle. The rescuers acted correctly and reported to the Nature and Parks Authority hotline and allowed us to provide life-saving treatment to the turtle in the hope that we can return it to the sea later.
How should one proceed when encountering an injured turtle?
- Watch out for injured sea turtles washed ashore or floating in the sea.
- Report immediately to the RTG hotline 3639*.
- Stay with the turtle until a volunteer/inspector arrives or bring the turtle to the rescue center after reporting.
- If the turtle is entangled in waste, do not remove the waste and do not release the turtle back into the sea.
- The turtle must be brought to the rescue center for medical treatment with the waste as it is.

The turtle is injured but the main thing is that someone is sitting on it... oh really... a bit sensitive.
