(haipo) – The Carmel Water Corporation recently completed a large-scale infrastructure project, in which a new pipeline was laid that will allow for the first time the flow of wastewater from Haifa’s southern inlets to the Nir Etzion Wastewater Treatment Plant. Until now, these neighborhoods were connected to the Wastewater Treatment Plant at Check Post, which greatly overloaded the transmission lines along the coast and even caused sewage leaks into the sea on rainy days.
Carmel Waters says that this is a strategic move involving an investment of 30 million shekels, which is expected to allow significant advancement of development and construction plans in the coastal neighborhoods and the south of the city, after decades in which wastewater was discharged only north of the Haifa Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Reducing workloads and improving operational flexibility
The diversion of wastewater to the south is expected to reduce the load on the sewer lines and pumping facilities throughout the city, improve the operational flexibility of the sewage systems, and contribute to environmental protection. Thanks to a concerted effort by the corporation's management and field teams, the start of the discharge was brought forward, and the wastewater is already being discharged to the Nir Etzion wastewater treatment plant.
The completion of the project constitutes essential infrastructure for the continued development of Haifa's southern entrances, and enables the promotion of new construction projects in the coastal neighborhoods, in cooperation with the Haifa Municipality, water corporations, and authorities in the Carmel Beach area.
Chairman of the Board of Directors: "A significant milestone for the Haifa metropolis"
Yitzhak (Izzy) Inbar, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Carmel Water, noted that the new connection also allows the flow of Tirat Carmel's wastewater to the Nir Etzion wastewater treatment plant: "This is a significant and important process. The project is a milestone in the development of Haifa Metropolitan's sewage infrastructure. The cooperation between all bodies is strategic for the future of the city, and allows for accelerated development while maintaining environmental quality and innovation."
"We will continue to invest in advanced infrastructure for decades to come"
Ami Ben Haim, CEO of Carmel Water Corporation"We were able to advance the delivery date thanks to the hard work and high professionalism of the corporation's teams. We will continue to invest in advanced infrastructure that will support Haifa's growing needs, and will enable continued development in the city for decades to come."

Meanwhile, the entire Carmel is digging pipes due to a sewer explosion due to Tama 38
The entire Carmel suffers from rising sewage, and then they dig up entire streets to install pipes because the infrastructure is collapsing due to the number of apartments in Tama 38. It's a disaster that costs the public tens of millions of shekels to finance the contractors.
