Netivei Israel announced the advancement of planning for the Atlit South Interchange, which will create an additional entrance to Atlit from the coastal road. The news was conveyed in an official letter received at the office of the head of the Hof Carmel Regional Council, Asif Isaac. At the same time, work to upgrade the Atlit North Interchange is expected to begin this December. The project will also include adding a lane for public transportation on Highway 2.
Large-scale transportation project along Highway 2
According to a statement from Netivei Israel, the company is currently in the process of appointing planning teams for a large-scale transportation project, which will add a public transportation lane along Highway 2, from Tirat HaCarmel to Atlit South. As part of the project, the Atlit South Interchange will also be planned - a new interchange that will provide additional entry and exit to Atlit from the coastal road. The news of the advancement of the planning came following a conversation that the head of the council had with the company's CEO, Nissim Peretz. This is a project that has been talked about in the area for about 15 years, and it is now entering the planning phase. The new interchange is expected to improve transportation accessibility to the settlement and the entire Hof Carmel area, offer another alternative for entering and exiting Atlit, and provide a response to the developing transportation needs in the area.
The project is being launched in two phases.
According to Netivei Israel, in the first phase, which is already being promoted, the section between Tirat HaCarmel and the Atlit South Interchange will be planned, including the new interchange itself. In the second phase, which the company intends to promote as part of the next five-year plan, the project will continue south, from the Atlit South Interchange to Zichron Yaakov. The two phases together are expected to create a continuum of public transportation infrastructure along Highway 2, alongside the new entrance to Atlit.
Upon completion of the appointment of the planning teams, a dedicated working meeting is expected to be held between Netivei Israel and the Hof Carmel Regional Council, at which the project details and the schedules for completing the planning will be presented.
Double news: Work on the North Atlit Interchange will begin soon
Alongside the news about the southern interchange, Netivei Israel reported on another significant progress: As part of the Atlit North Interchange project, the contractor for the project, Bani Adel Gabali, has already been selected. The contractor is currently in the process of organizing the site, and according to the company's announcement, work on the ground is expected to begin as early as early December. The parallel progress on both projects marks a significant period in the development of transportation infrastructure in the Carmel Coast, with the start of work on the northern interchange and the advancement of planning for the southern interchange, which has been on the regional agenda for many years.

"Historic news for the entire Carmel Coast"
Head of the Hof Carmel Regional Council, Assif Isaac, said: "This is historic news for the entire Carmel Coast. For decades, people have talked here about the need for a southern interchange to Atlit, and today we are taking a significant step towards making this vision a reality. The new interchange is much more than just another road or another entrance to the community, it is strategic infrastructure for the future of the entire region, which will improve accessibility, strengthen the connection between the communities and provide a response to the development of the Carmel Coast in the coming years." Isaac added: "I thank the Minister of Transportation Miri Regev, the CEO of Netivei Israel, Nissim Peretz, and the company's people for their cooperation and for promoting this important project. We will continue to closely monitor the planning and work to make the southern interchange a reality on the ground. At the same time, we are happy about the progress on the northern interchange, the construction of which is expected to begin soon."
Important and blessed news for Atlit
Deputy Head of the Council holds the Atlit, Osher and Kenin portfolios, He said: "Atlit is undergoing significant development and growth, and the transportation infrastructure must develop along with it. The southern interchange is a fundamental transportation need, not only for the residents of Atlit but for the entire region. Advancing its planning, alongside the expected start of work on the northern interchange, is an important step towards improving accessibility, reducing traffic congestion, and providing a response to the needs of Atlit today and in the future."
Chairman of the Atlit Local Committee, Itai Shafran, He added: "This is welcome and extremely important news for Atlit and its residents. I thank the head of the council, Asif Isaac, for the fact that throughout the past few years he has pressed for the promotion of the interchanges without ceasing. Atlit is developing at a significant pace and given the current and expected growth, this news is extremely important."

We need to make a flying car
A factory to produce flying cars should be opened in Israel
There is no need for the residents of the council to improve the North Interchange. It is only postponing the new South Interchange to the next five-year plan…
In short, for the sake of Tirat HaCarmel, the residents of the council will suffer for at least another five years in traffic jams at the only existing entrance. Instead of starting the South Interchange first, relieve pressure and give another option before clogging up the existing interchange. Dream. Dream.
The main thing is that the council leader keeps his eyes open, satisfied.
