(Hai Pa) - It was supposed to be a normal day of shopping, but in Haifa it became extraordinary. The resident of the city who was returning from shopping encountered a herd of pigs that attacked the bags and did not leave until they eliminated all the contents.
On Tuesday 21.5.24/25/XNUMX, a resident of Almogi neighborhood in Haifa returned to her home after a day of shopping. She parked the car and started to unload the bags and bring them into the house. Her XNUMX-year-old daughter went out to help her, but when she started to take the bags out of the vehicle, a herd of pigs (adult pig and puppies) attacked her and the bags and stole the bags from her.
The frightened daughter got into the car and started shouting to her mother who instructed her to start the car and honk the horn in the hope that the noise would startle the pigs and cause them to run away. But these attempts failed and the pigs continued on their own until they eliminated all the contents. In the meantime, the frustrated and helpless mother called the municipal hotline, which acted quickly and sent inspectors to the scene.

The mother told in a conversation with Hai Fa: "It was a traumatic event. I entered the house and heard the girl yelling "Mom" and saw her inside the vehicle surrounded by a group of pigs who stole her bags and attacked all their contents. All our attempts to drive them away failed. Many neighbors, most of whom are adults, were afraid to go out to help except for one who left with a ladder and tried to drive them away.
I must point out that we contacted the municipality's hotline and they responded quickly and sent inspectors who also cleaned up the garbage left by the pigs, but the trauma remained.
The story does not end with this event. On Wednesday 22/5/24 we went shopping again, Beiti and I, and when we got home again the herd of pigs was waiting for us. We called the municipal hotline and they arrived quickly and waited for us until they went home with the shopping. Although the municipality's response was quick, this is an abnormal situation - "pig terror". It is impossible for us to start getting used to entering the house with shopping only accompanied by inspectors.'
The mother continued to tell: "Although the pigs always roamed the area, they never surrounded or attacked. Recently they started ambushing and it's scary. We have a feeling of frustration and it was important to me to flood the issue because of security and not for any other reason. A lot of people told me that I could file a lawsuit, but I'm not there. All I demand as a resident of the city is security for my children, me and the residents. This time it ended well, but you never know how it will end next time."
A promise to deal with the pig problem
As I recall, in June 2023 Mayor Yona Yahav pledged with his announcement of running for mayor of Haifa that within 90 days of his return to office he would remove the entire phenomenon of pigs. Indeed, upon his assumption of office, the plan to eradicate the phenomenon of wild pigs was launched in coordination between the Haifa Municipality and RTG. The plan, of course, includes live shooting of pigs that are defined as unruly - a concept that means pigs that have lost their fear of humans.
Of course, following the launch of the program, the Let the Animal Live association filed a request for a restraining order against the continuation of the shooting. A discussion was held and at the end the association withdrew the request.
There are 38 days left for the mayor's commitment - will he keep his commitment and in 38 days we won't see pigs in the public space? Days will tell and provide an answer, but according to the existing reality and the logic of the residents, this is not feasible.

Do not kill animal cruelty are. dangerous
They clean the garbage that all the citizens throw on the floor instead of in the trash, so someone cleans
Dilute quickly by any means
Just massive dilution. Holders of firearms licenses to walk around with a gun and shoot indiscriminately.
Is anyone hurt? No ? So the municipality is not interested. A bunch of incompetents.
