(Haipo) – The Ministry of Health has issued a bathing warning for the public on the Mediterranean coast, following rainfall in the coastal plain and concerns about runoff and drainage flowing onto the beaches. The warning will remain in effect until further notice from the ministry, and the public is asked to avoid entering the water on these beaches.
Rainfall in the coastal plain raises concerns about seawater pollution
The Ministry of Health announced that following rainfall in the coastal plain area, there is a real concern about the flow of runoff and drainage water towards the beaches of the Mediterranean Sea. This runoff water may carry various pollutants with it and harm the quality of the sea water and the health of bathers. In light of this situation, the Ministry issued an official warning calling on the public to avoid bathing on the beaches of the Mediterranean Sea until a new announcement is published updating that the water is safe for bathing.
Reminder: Bathe only at designated beaches.
The Ministry of Health would like to remind the public that swimming in the sea is only permitted at declared beaches, i.e. beaches that have been officially defined as suitable for swimming and are supervised by the authorized authorities. Swimming at beaches that are not declared may endanger the health of bathers, as these beaches do not undergo routine water quality tests and are not equipped with rescue services. The public is asked to follow the instructions of the Ministry of Health and stay updated on official announcements regarding the lifting of the warning.
