(haipo) The Privacy Protection Authority at the Ministry of Justice imposed a financial sanction of 12 shekels on A.D. Karting Outdoor (2014) Ltd., after it was determined that the company violated the Privacy Protection Law when collecting personal information from its customers via an online form.
The company did not present customers with all the information required by law.
An investigation conducted by the Privacy Protection Authority revealed that the A.D. Outdoor Karting company required its customers to provide personal information via an online form, but did not present them with the full information that the law requires them to provide.
Among the details that were not presented to customers: the purpose of the information collection, the identity of the owner of the database, as well as the customers' rights to review and correct the information collected about them. These are basic requirements set forth in the Privacy Protection Law, which are intended to ensure that a person who provides personal information is aware of the use that will be made of it and their rights with respect to this information.
The violation was corrected only after the investigation procedure was opened.
The Privacy Protection Authority rejected the company's claims regarding the violation, and determined that the company corrected the violation only after the authority opened an investigation against it. The amount of the financial sanction imposed on the company was reduced from an original amount of 20 shekels to a final amount of 12 shekels. The reduction was granted, among other things, due to the fact that the company had no previous violations of the law, as well as due to the actions taken by it to prevent the violation from recurring in the future.
