Haifa's road revolution: Dozens of streets will be renovated with an investment of 70 million NIS

(haipo) The Haifa Municipality is embarking on a large-scale project to rehabilitate dozens of roads and streets throughout the city, with an investment of approximately 70 million NIS. The work includes renewing asphalt layers, addressing safety hazards, and upgrading sidewalks and road infrastructure, with the aim of improving the quality of travel and safety for road users throughout Haifa.

A strategic move to rehabilitate Haifa city infrastructure

The work is being managed by the Project Management Department in the Urban Improvement Division of the Operations Administration in the Haifa Municipality, and is accompanied by Mayor Yona Yahav and Director General David Luria.
As part of the move, the municipality is currently carrying out comprehensive work to rehabilitate the roads in Rehovot:
Verdia
Salesian
Rabbi Kaniel
Abba Hillel Silver
Camille Huysmans.
These streets join a long list of streets where similar work has recently been completed, including:
Kuipman
Pinchas Rosen
Aaronson
Rachel Kagan

Additional streets are planned for the near future.

In the near future, renovation work will be added to additional streets throughout the city of Haifa:
Bar Giora
Louis Pasteur
All Israel friends
Emile Zola
Victor Hugo
Rabbi Tam
Carmel Rose and Topaz.
Additional roads are expected to join later.

Haifa Mayor Yona Yahav"This is not a one-off action, but a broad-based strategic move that returns investment in public space to its rightful place. Investing tens of millions of shekels in road rehabilitation is an investment in safety, quality of life, and the dignity of the city. We are committed to continuing the revolution in all of Haifa's neighborhoods, until every resident feels the change when they drive through the city's streets."

Municipality CEO: An unprecedented move in its scope

Haifa Municipality CEO David Luria"Road rehabilitation is one of the municipality's core tasks in the coming years, and we are managing it like any strategic task, with a structured work plan, clear priorities, schedules and close professional supervision. This is an unprecedented process in its scope, which will continue in the coming months and years and will reach more and more streets throughout the city. We are determined to reduce the gaps of recent years and provide Haifa residents with safe, high-quality and advanced infrastructure, as befits a leading city in Israel."

  1. Only by hiring workers from China should road paving be carried out in the Haifa area. Remember that the work was carried out by Chinese workers. The Carmel Tunnels are a dirty job. The tunnels were completed two years before the end of the agreement. Yaffe Nof Co. cannot, cannot, with the team of workers they employ, renovate roads, otherwise we will not be able to experience it in 8 years. We saw it as a hunt to renovate Herzl Avenue, the pioneer of independence. One worker, two make coffee, 10 continue, in the group, take a lunch break and immediately end and disappear. Friday is definitely a holiday. Yaffe Nof should close an unnecessary and failed institution. Agreement only and only with workers from China.

  2. Interestingly, they are renovating roads in relatively good condition (and along the way, they are reducing lanes at roundabouts and pushing stupid and clearly non-standard speed bumps – more like speed bumps), and completely neglecting the roads that really!!! need a thorough renovation and haven't been taken care of for decades (no exaggeration, unfortunately).
Masada, for example. Today a pit, tomorrow a mountain, the day after tomorrow the mountain becomes a pit again, the next day a mountain again. What the hell. There are still signs on the road there of the excavations for laying the cable infrastructure, in the early 1990s… I wasn’t kidding when I said decades.

  3. Have you ever been to Shoham Street?
Property taxes are paid as in the most expensive area in Haifa,
Whereas the road there looks like a dirt road from the grove to the roundabout…
Many times I have seen elderly people trip and fall there, and all because they park on the sidewalk...
This municipality is lucky that no one has sued it yet!

  4. We have a business on Zvi Herman Street. The road here is completely covered in potholes, which is damaging vehicles and goods. We contacted the municipality and they said there is no intention to renovate the road. It is 100 meters of road. Shame

  5. Have you ever driven on Berl Street? It's a shame, why don't they fix the broken road that's impossible to drive on if it's full of potholes?

  6. There are two types of asphalt: expensive asphalt that lasts 20 years but costs 3 times as much as cheap asphalt that lasts 3-4 years in the Israeli sun before cracking and crumbling again.
Guess which asphalt pavement in Haifa.

    • What about Kiryat Haim Mizrahi, which has completely sealed us off and pays high taxes?

    • It's time!!!! To thoroughly renovate Machaneyim Street and the terrible sidewalks so that we can take our parents in a wheelchair and not walk on the road and take risks. The sidewalks are simply impassable and there is no access for an elderly person and an accompanying person to cross, let alone a wheelchair. Simply shameful.
I demand that Machanyim Street be made a high priority. We pay high enough property taxes to get something as basic as being able to walk on a normal, treeless, wider sidewalk!

  7. What about Kiryat Haim? Some of the roads are in appalling condition… Same goes for the industrial areas in Haifa Bay. And even the main roads need urgent attention.

  8. Calling all city residents!
Be careful not to do to you what has already happened and is happening in Jerusalem. Under the guise of renovation and renewal, the amount of parking in the city in general and in the neighborhoods in particular has been dramatically reduced. Three-lane access roads have become two-lane roads while unnecessarily widening the sidewalks. Lanes have been reduced on major transportation arteries and sidewalks have been widened again for pedestrians. All of this is part of a "policy to encourage the use of public transportation."
If this happens to you too, note that this is just one step that will lead to the densification of the city.
    Don't say you weren't warned!
    ♡

  9. It's really good that you woke up. 30 years of Gaza roads and now you've woken up?
The third largest city in Israel with the infrastructure of a village in Bangladesh.
    disgusting.

  10. I would like to check the traffic on Yaffe Nof Street, mainly from Katz Street to Shaar Lebanon. It is impossible that Achi Yaffe Street in Haifa, with its visitors—and even tourists—has such a traffic. Thank you.

  11. The Danya Highway looks like it's in Gaza
Every passing vehicle makes an unbelievable noise. It's hard to cross the road on foot, like climbing a barrel in a barrel.

  12. Surprisingly, the municipality decided to fix these small streets instead of the main ones. What about the broken Pika, Hankin, Freud, and the entire Carmel Hospital area? Why make a big fuss about it? We pay very high property taxes so that we have proper infrastructure all the time. This shouldn't be a one-time celebration by the mayor, and it certainly shouldn't take so long, years, when the city's roads and sidewalks are broken and damaged.

  13. What about the street that is being discussed between Moria and Yotam Awak, the main one looks like a street in Gaza, a fabrication and a disgrace?

  14. Bordia and the lower part of Rabbi Kaniel, there are bumpers that dismantle the vehicles.
While on Bordia it is still understandable because it is a narrow two-lane road (they can be softened there too), on Kaniel Street I don't see any logical reason – maybe one on the descent before the traffic light.

  15. The Jaffa Street, which is riddled with holes, including sidewalks, is not mentioned. Why, because Arabs live there?

  16. I am a resident of Haifa. Why aren't they fixing Gedalyahu Street??????? Have you forgotten us? The street is full of potholes and sinkholes. It looks and feels like one patch all along its length and its rider.

  17. Continuing on Givat Downs Street, where the road is on the face, turn left onto Yaarot Street, where you can get seasick while traveling.

  18. Halla, you could think that the previous mayor did the same thing, but someone tell him why he's silent about the Palestinian flag being sprayed and apart from painting it, he doesn't do anything about it. Where is the security that we pay for? We need a more assertive mayor who actually cares. Shame on you.

    • The entrance to Kiryat Haim, Ahi Street, Eilat, needs road renovation after the sidewalk you did at a good time. And yes, the beach, it's time for you to finish and connect to Kiryat Yam. We heard about plans that will probably take many years to complete, shame

  19. Irit is failing!
    Unpainted roads with potholes
I've blown out tires more than once.
The roads in Haifa wouldn't put Gaza to shame.

  20. And what about the terrible sidewalk on Stella Maris Road???
Parking on the sidewalks (the municipality can make a fortune from the fines)
And bags for dog poop (the only city in the country that insists on dog poop on the sidewalks)

    • Hello,
Please add to the renovation/improvement of Hantaka Street, which has long since become a main street within the city.

  21. It is very important to renovate the Yafe Nof Road around the Baha'i Gardens. Yafe Nof Street is the face of Haifa in terms of foreign and domestic tourism. The road is full of potholes, depressions and bumps.

    • Beautiful scenery, especially from the grove to Dafna, looks like a road in Gaza

    • What about Shoham Street? Especially the dead-end section – the developer who built 5-7 pledged to renovate the road upon completion of construction, but several years have passed since then and no one in the municipality cares.
Between the broken road and the trash blocking the sidewalks, we look and feel like Gaza and pay property taxes like in Valley Hills.

    • And what about Orchid Street? Almost the entire street is full of potholes, and the main thing is the highest property tax in Haifa.

  22. Givat Downs What about the road repair Asphalt potholes You can't feel the car jump. You pay the most in property taxes and get a fever. Every winter potholes that are covered with tar and after a few days they open up again.

    • What is happening with the renovation of the streets in Kiryat Shmuel and Haim? The definition is that they are part of the Haifa metropolis, but in practice the result is a neglected periphery, and why?

  23. In Kiryat Haim, Aharonovich Street, the road, in my opinion, has not been renovated since the Turkish mandate. In general, in my opinion, the same streets are constantly being renovated.
Shame and disgrace. The industry in Haifa Bay, which belongs to Kiryat Haim, has not been renovated. The roads from the time of
The Templars, in my opinion, deserve all the property taxes.
To the Haifa Municipality from the industry in Haifa Bay but road maintenance…nothing. Poverty certificate.
