Large viper found inside electrical cabinet • Complex capture

(haipo) – Challenging capture of a large and dangerous viper snake: A routine morning at a solar panel farm turned into an extraordinary emergency after engineers who arrived to perform maintenance discovered a large, breathing viper inside the central electrical cabinet. The snake apparently entered, following the scent of a rat that had infiltrated inside and was electrocuted to death. Thanks to the quick, professional, and careful action of Snake Catcher Zohar Lahat The incident ended without casualties and without damage to the facility.

The snake in the electrical cabinet: "We turned off all the voltage – there is no electricity at all"

Upon discovery of the snake, a senior electrical engineer was called to the scene and lowered the high voltage and transformers to prevent the risk of electrocution. Only after the site was declared safe did Zohar Lahat begin a thorough scan of the electrical cabinet.
After a thorough inspection, the snake was found hiding inside one of the inner rails, deep in a narrow and challenging niche to access.

A delicate and precise capture: "It'll take me a moment... he's in a corner"

Zohar Lahat, an experienced snake catcher, approached the task with great caution.
According to her: "The problem is that it's in a closet and I don't have access to it, so it'll take me a moment..."
After several minutes of delicate work, Lahat managed to lead the viper to an open part of the track and from there capture it safely and professionally.
One of those present described the moment: "Wow… what a size, mother… very beautiful!"

Great luck: for both the snake and the site administrators

Despite the danger, the snake was not harmed by the electricity, a scenario that could have ended completely differently. Site managers can also breathe a sigh of relief: Damage to a central electrical cabinet on a solar farm can reach hundreds of thousands of shekels.
The incident ended peacefully, and the viper was later released into an open, remote area, in accordance with procedures.

Professionalism that saves lives – of humans and snakes

Thanks to a combination of knowledge, experience, composure, and sensitivity to animals, in this case too, Zohar Lahat managed to prevent real danger and keep the snake alive.

In Israel, all snakes are protected by law, and it is forbidden to harm them or capture them without a permit. When encountering a snake, it is recommended to keep your distance, observe it with eye contact, take a photo and send it to a certified trapper for identification. If necessary, the trapper will arrive quickly, capture the snake humanely and release it back into the wild, away from human habitation. You can contact Zohar Lahat - Snake Catcher directly by phone: 054-245-5627.
