Giant female vipers were captured at night in the Haifa and Carmel areas

In both cases, the viper was discovered by a cat, which recognized the snake and tied it to its place. Erez explains that during this period the females are preparing to lay eggs and the number of eggs may reach up to 30.

In the first case, the viper was discovered by a cat, but managed to crawl under the car and hide among the plastic parts on the bottom. Trapper Dagan Erez arrived at the scene, located it, and was finally able to extract it from the car. In the second case, the cat tied the viper to its place, allowing Erez to capture it relatively easily. One of the females was captured in Carmel and the other near Haifa.

Trapper Dagan Erez explains that when a cat spots a large viper, it attracts it to the spot and the viper enters a "freeze" state, a state in which the snake freezes and remains static. According to him, a similar phenomenon also occurs when a person sees a snake and remains standing still, the viper enters the same frozen state. For this reason, Erez asks the public to maintain eye contact with the snake and call him immediately, so that he can come and capture the viper while it is still in place.
