(Hai Pa) – Classes at the “Hahotrim” elementary school in Tirat Carmel will begin tomorrow (Monday, February 16, 2026) at 10:00 AM, following an incident of serious physical violence against a teaching staff member, as well as against the backdrop of numerous cases of violence by students and parents against school staff.
The Teachers' Union reported that a teaching staff member was attacked in a serious incident and required evacuation by ambulance for medical treatment. Following the incident, it was decided to hold an information meeting for the educational staff, which will be held between 08:00 and 10:00, with the participation of a representative of the Teachers' Union from the Haifa branch.
The chairman of the Teachers' Union, Michael Pinto, strongly condemned the incident and said:
“We reiterate our warning that incidents of violence in schools are becoming more extreme. Today, we have crossed a red line again, and this reality must be stopped before we reach a point of no return. If there is no clear and determined response, the education system will become an unsafe place – neither for teachers nor for students. The Teachers’ Union will not stand by and will do everything to protect the safety, dignity, and status of educators.”
The chairwoman of the Haifa branch of the Teachers' Union, Edna David, also commented on the incident, saying: "This is a serious incident that illustrates the extent to which the boundaries in schools have been eroded. When a teaching staff member is attacked and requires medical evacuation, it is impossible to be satisfied with condemnations alone. An immediate, clear, and determined response is required. The school must be a safe space for educational staff and students, and not a place where educators fear for their safety."
The Teachers' Union emphasized that they will continue to stand by the educational staff and provide them with full support, while demanding systemic action that will ensure the safety of teaching staff.
The Tirat Carmel Municipality of Tirat Carmel informed me:
Zero tolerance for violence – keeping teaching staff and students safe!
Dear parents and residents,
We are addressing you today with a heavy heart and a sense of urgency, following the severe incidents of violence that occurred today and over a period of time at the Hathor School, cases in which parents approached educational staff in a violent and disrespectful manner.
Today's case, in which a teaching staff member required medical evacuation following violence, and another case in which a student threw chairs at another teaching staff member, are red lines that we cannot – and will not! – allow to cross.
The education system in Tirat Carmel considers its teaching staff to be the pioneers of municipal action. Our teachers dedicate their lives to educating our children, and it is our fundamental duty to ensure that they can do so in a safe, respectful, and protected environment.
Our principles are clear:
Zero tolerance for violence: Any manifestation of violence, physical or verbal, towards teaching staff by students or parents, will be dealt with with the utmost seriousness and with all the tools at our disposal.
Dialogue instead of brawling: We believe that difficulties and disagreements are a part of life, but the only way to resolve them is through respectful dialogue. Violent discourse within the walls of the school or on social media harms all of our children first and foremost.
Full backup for teams: The Education Department and the local authority are providing full support to the school principal and teaching staff. They are not alone in this struggle!
Following the events, tomorrow (Monday), 16.2.26, school classes will begin at 10:00. During this time, the educational team will hold an information and organizing meeting together with representatives of the Teachers' Union, to process the events and determine further courses of action.
Additionally, tomorrow's school day will be dedicated to standing alongside teachers at school and strengthening them, and students will address the phenomenon of violence, its harms, and ways to eradicate it.
We urge you, the parents, to talk to your children at home about the importance of respect for the educational staff and the consequences of violent behavior. Only together, through cooperation and mutual responsibility, will we succeed in restoring a sense of safety to the school and ensuring that Kotrim continues to be a warm and nurturing home for its students.
Best regards,
Dudu Cohen, Mayor
Amy Afomedo, Deputy Mayor and Minister of Education
Danny Pessler, Director of the Education Division

So what, are the B.I.B.I.s.t.s
Check the entrance to the school for signs of voltage and weapons, and many other ways to combat this phenomenon.
The ones who are punished are the parents who are not related at all.
Dear Yael, we cannot separate violent behavior on the part of children from the responsibility of the parents for the phenomenon. Education begins at home! As someone who knows parents in our time, in most cases the parents support the children, so I am not surprised that violence only continues to rear its head.
Hahaha
Very sad. Punishment is needed and it's good that protesters don't give up.
David Cohen is not a mayor, but a mayor!!!
😍Instead of a lot of unnecessary "talk" on the above subject and in general... in the "public education system", we must move on to positive "actions", which will serve as an "example and role model" and improve the situation... because only "action" creates "deterrence" on the one hand... and points to "education" on the other...!!!@@@
* The variety of "options" & "tools" that exist + the "creative" ones can/may bring about the long-awaited change…!!!@@@😭😭😭😭😭
"Honor your father and mother"… = a commandment from the "Ten Commandments" in the "Torah"…
It follows that after this comes "mutual respect" for everyone: for each other, for each other, for each other, for each other...
In the "education system" there is an important "triangle": parents teach children/students; in this triangle, the most important is: "education" for proper "behavior" = "manners and etiquette" between people, which will form the basis for appropriate "human relations" among "students" from a young age...; the "education system" does not pay enough attention to this, in my opinion and experience in "education"; therefore, ultimately, the main responsibility for "education of Israeli children" lies with the "educational staff" in general, with the "educators" in particular, literally every "individual"...!!!@@@
🙏"And it's nice one hour earlier"…!!!@@@
* In the past, the "respect" for "teachers" from all of "Israeli society" was high, especially from "parents," who appreciated the work of the "educator" and the fact of "education" - "in practice"...!!!@@@😭
Parents take children to gyms and Krav Maga, kickboxing, kung fu classes, so the children just apply it at school. There is no parental authority in Israel, just as there is no deterrence and crime is rampant, so is violence. Violence also means blocking the Horev intersection for hours every week for 3 years without reason.
Horror 🤦🏻
