Responding to the evolving threat in the low altitude
Rafael Advanced Combat Systems Ltd. and the Haifa-based startup company "Lulav Space" signed a cooperation agreement to develop an innovative system for intercepting drones and UAVs. The agreement is intended to provide advanced and flexible solutions to deal with this evolving threat, while maintaining a low penetration cost, rapid operational capability, and effective implementation on the battlefield.
Dedicated manager for low-level threats
Rafael recently established a dedicated directorate within the Air Defense Division, focusing on Very Low-Altitude (VLA) threats. This is a step that complements the company's portfolio of advanced defense systems, which includes Iron Dome, David's Sling, the Spider system, and other systems.
"Extraordinary synergy"

Yossi Margalit, Head of the National Defense Administration at Rafael, explained: "The collaboration creates an extraordinary synergy between Rafael's proven operational capabilities and Lulav Space's creativity and innovative technology. Thanks to this combination, we will be able to quickly develop cheap, efficient and flexible interception solutions at a level never before seen in the market."
"A leap forward for Lulav Space"
Dr. Noam Leiter, CEO of Lulav Space, said: "The agreement with Rafael is a leap forward for us. It allows us to bring to light the unique capabilities we have developed, and to offer solutions that help break into new markets while reducing barriers to entry - especially in terms of price."
Innovation strategy with Israeli startups
The collaboration with "Lulav Space" fits into Rafael's innovation strategy, which is based on collaborations with local startups. The goal: a dynamic innovation network that combines Rafael's knowledge and experience with the creativity and new technologies of startups, to enable rapid development of solutions and deal with the changing threats on the modern battlefield.
