Good Morning with Francesca and Diana ◄ Watch
I saved a sea turtle.
Where to start? I went into the water this morning at the house reef (Bat Galim) like every day, I met the green turtle Francesca and then I caught the green turtle, Diana in the same frame, it was amazing!
I said goodbye to them and was already thinking about leaving. Then I met Shanti, as usual in her Shanti, eating and breathing, and I spent a little time with her.

I was already thinking about getting out of the water, and then I met a brown turtle, full of seashells. I was swimming with it, and suddenly I realized that its right fin was swollen and not really moving, and then I discovered that it was tangled in fishing line in its fin and mouth.

The hesitation was great, how do I get her out when I am about 300 meters from the shore, I decided to just try, I dived for her and grabbed her, swam with her in my hands and managed to get her to the shore. It was challenging, the brown turtle tried to break free from me and also pull me down, throughout this time I hold her tightly, determined that she will come out with me.

I arrive at the beach and shout for help, for someone to come and help me get out of the water. The neighbor across the street heard and came to help me get the turtle out onto the sand.
I want to thank everyone who came to help and many thanks to Shai Cabasa, an inspector from the RTG marine unit, who arrived within minutes of my call and took her to the sea turtle rescue center.
Happy ending, all is well ◄ Watch
What a crazy morning!
Bat Galim Reef must be protected and free of fishing lines and hooks.
This is the reason for my work, for lectures and raising awareness, this is the reason why Bat Galim Reef must be protected and free of fishing lines and hooks.
There is something to be done, there is someone to protect, and until there is a real marine reserve here (not the one I declared in theory), it is worth finding a solution that will keep our sea turtles alive.
So now there is a turtle named after me, a sea turtle named Tal, after giving names to almost fifty turtles, I never planned to give my name to any of the turtles, so now there is a turtle named after me that is being rehabilitated and I will share its condition later.

You can see the identity cards I issued to the turtle community in Bat Galim Reef on my website >>> click here.

If you encounter an injured or distressed turtle, do not untie the fishing lines from the turtle yourself, as this can do more harm than good and the turtle may lose its fin. This should be done under the supervision of a doctor who specializes in this - report it in the SeaWatch app, or call the IDF at 3639*.
I wish we could all see only free turtles swimming for their own pleasure.

Tal, you are amazing.
