(Hai Pa) – In the Iranian missile attack on Saturday night (14/6/25), a localized damage was recorded to the pipelines in the refinery complex (Bazan) in Haifa Bay, the Bazan Group announced on Sunday, 15/06/25. The company stated that the incident is under control.
The group updated the results of the missile attack out of a commitment to transparency with the investing public on the Israel Stock Exchange. The company's announcement stated that damage was caused to a transmission pipeline between facilities within the ZEN complex, but there were no casualties. As of the reporting date, the refining facilities themselves continue to operate as usual, but some of the downstream facilities on the site have been temporarily shut down.
It was also reported that the company is examining the possible implications of the event on its ongoing operations, and the manner and timing of returning the disabled facilities to operation. In addition, the potential impact on the group's financial results is also being examined, inter alia in light of the company's rights in accordance with the Property Tax and Compensation Fund Law (1961-XNUMX), as well as within the framework of its insurance policy covering damage from terrorism and war.
The company emphasized that it will continue to update as necessary and in accordance with developments.
There was no danger to residents of Haifa Bay and the region.
Idit Silman, Minister of Environmental Protection, following the announcement by the Bazan Group: "The Ministry of Environmental Protection was informed in real time about the event, and as the national coordinating body for handling hazardous materials, professionally accompanied the emergency forces of the Home Front Command, which is the body responsible for handling security incidents alongside fire and rescue, in handling the event, during which there was no danger to the residents of Haifa Bay and the region."
The Ministry of Environmental Protection verifies the compliance of the ZA with emergency procedures and guidelines
Rami Rosen, Director General of the Ministry of Environmental Protection: "The Ministry of Environmental Protection continues to maintain continuous contact with all parties, including the management of the Bazan Group, and verifies their continued adherence to emergency procedures and guidelines in order to ensure that the protection of public health and the environment is maintained even under complex conditions."
Petrochemical plants endanger the safety and security of Haifa Bay residents
The Haifa Bay Area Cities Association for Environmental Protection stated that the association's drivers are operating 24/7 and have been in the field since last night, as part of ongoing preparations that include close supervision of the factories and risk reduction, in cooperation with the Home Front Command, the fire department, and the Ministry of Environmental Protection.
Avihu Hahn, chairman of the union and deputy and acting mayor of Haifa, sharply attacked the continued existence of the petrochemical plants in the heart of the Haifa metropolis: "Tonight, it was proven once again to what extent the petrochemical plants, and the ZAN complex at their head, constitute a central target on the agenda of our enemies, and endanger the security, safety, and health of the residents of Haifa Bay. Tonight, we also learned once again that there is no hermetic defense, and how impossible it is for the continuity of the energy sector to depend entirely on the vulnerable refineries. For years, we have been warning with all our might against the ticking bomb of the petrochemical industry in Haifa Bay."
Hahn emphasized that in the coming days and weeks, the union will work to minimize potential damage as much as possible, but that once the fighting ends, the government will be required to make a courageous decision: "We will demand the acceleration of the evacuation of the petrochemical industries from the Gulf. This is the only way to maintain the security of the residents and residents of Haifa Bay, and ensure the energy security of the State of Israel."
