(haipo) In light of security developments in the Middle East and concerns about harm to air traffic, the Airports Authority issued a clarification to the public today (Thursday, July 9, 2026), stating that there is no change in the guidelines, and all airports in Israel continue to operate as usual.
The PA's announcement comes after an escalation that included American strikes on targets in Iran, responses from Tehran, and security implications that were also felt in countries in the region, including Jordan. The developments led to a wave of rumors and posts on social media regarding the possibility of flight disruptions or changes in passenger guidelines.
At the same time, diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions and achieve a ceasefire continue, but alongside the hope for calm, high security alert is still maintained in the region. In light of the uncertainty, the Airports Authority sought to clarify that at this stage there is no change in the situation of civil aviation in Israel.
The Airports Authority statement stated: "Following the rumor mill and incorrect publications, we would like to clarify that there is no change in the guidelines. All airports in Israel are operating as usual and passenger traffic is constantly increasing. In fact, we are in peak activity days." The Authority further emphasized that if there is any change in the guidelines, the public will be immediately updated through all of the Airports Authority's official communication channels. The Authority calls on the public to rely solely on official announcements and to refrain from spreading unverified information, especially during a sensitive period when many unfounded reports are being published."

The Haifa metropolis, which the State of Israel wants to double to 2 million residents and another 2 million residents in the Northern District, cannot rely solely on a small airport with one company in Haifa and only have to travel an hour and a half to three hours on exhausting trips to Ben Gurion Airport and back via the already crowded trains and buses.
The state is once again abandoning the future of the northern economy by freezing the airport in Ramat David. Reality dictates that an immediate location be found for the establishment of an airport in the north. We are among the last countries in the entire world to have only one airport. Even in Africa, about 20 countries that relied on one airport are investing hundreds of billions of shekels to establish additional and new airports, understanding that this is a major economic and tourism engine for development.
There is no country around us among the Arab countries that has only one main international airport, and it can be said that Israel remembered the EU to build another one in Eilat – only it stands almost deserted because tourism to Eilat from Europe has died and Israeli tourists do not come to the airport to leave from it or return through it. This curiosity has cost the State of Israel very dearly. And it is costing the north even more dearly because in the meantime every economic engine related to aviation is drying up in the north in the peta morgana of Air Haifa flying to 3-4 destinations in small planes. It is nice as a small local tourism business, it is not a tourist and economic engine and air freight transportation.
Israel must come to its senses and quickly, cancel a second deserted field!!! in Ziklag (near Gaza, you see, they are geniuses right there in the government of lack of governance).. and return to developing a northern alternative in the Haifa metropolis, whether it is an immediate tender to dry the sea beyond the Gulf Port for the runways that will be connected close to the Gulf Port wall to the existing field that will be expanded. We cannot continue to wait decades until the governments realize the fatal mistake.. It will be too late.
The Airports Authority's announcement that there is no change for now is in itself stressful.
