A pollution incident in Nahal Gadora due to drilling works on the light rail
The Kishon River Authority reports a pollution incident in the sewage of Nahal Gadora, a tributary of the Kishon River.
The pollution event was caused, apparently, as a result of power line copying works for the light rail infrastructure being carried out on the spot. A horizontal drilling hit the main sewer line to the Haifa sewage treatment plant and because of this the sewage flowed directly into the stream.

A notification about the pollution was forwarded to the Water and Wastewater Center of the Ministry of Environmental Protection in the Haifa District and to the Ministry's Information Center. Teams from the Association of Haifa Sewer Cities arrived at the scene to repair the damaged line.

Severe damage to the stream
The Kishon River Authority states that the pollution incident caused severe damage to the river and its surroundings and is a serious sanitary hazard due to the large amount of sewage flowing into the river from the main sewer line.

Follow the event
Kishon River Authority personnel are at the scene and are monitoring the incident and its treatment.
A serious incident and what's next? Will the offending contractor be banned from state tenders? Will the inspector of the government office ordering the work (transportation?) be fired? No. Only headers and the sewage flows everywhere from Gedora to Kishon, from Kishon to the sea. Destroys animals, habitats, pollutes and stinks. Without a very severe punishment negligence will not stop!
