(haipo) – After three days, finally, Neot Beach in Kiryat Haim is approved for swimming by the Ministry of Health. The only beach currently prohibited from swimming is Bat Galim Beach.

The Haifa Municipality stated:
Following the results of the seawater sampling received, the Ministry of Health confirms the opening of Neot Beach in Kiryat Haim for swimming.
On the other hand, at Bat Galim Beach, the bathing ban continues at this stage, in accordance with the Ministry of Health guidelines.

If something like this were caused by a private party, the mayors would celebrate, demand fines and other things. When it's related to the municipality's own failures, they keep their mouths shut.
Journalists, insist on receiving answers from the Haifa Municipality: What is the source of the contamination? How was the contamination caused? What does the Haifa Municipality intend to do to prevent future contamination? Don't just publish the responses, ask them questions.
Bat Galim Beach is not open because of the sea cliffs. They have been contaminated. They have covered all the sea cliffs with sand. We need a commission of inquiry. Why did this happen? Why did they leave the cliffs for so many days? Why didn't they move them to the breakwater like always, like every year?
