Fatal accident on Highway 2: A 60-year-old man was killed and two were seriously injured

(Haipo) – A fatal car accident occurred tonight on Highway 2 heading south, near the Haifa South Interchange. In the accident, which involved two private vehicles, a man in his 60s was killed and two other people were seriously injured. The Israel Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the accident, and Carmel Region traffic accident investigators were called to the scene.

A 60-year-old man was found without signs of life – he was pronounced dead at the scene.

At 22:14 PM, a report was received at the MDA 101 hotline in the Carmel area about a road accident between two private vehicles on Highway 2 heading south, near the Haifa South Interchange. MDA medics and paramedics who arrived at the scene found three victims. A 60-year-old man was found with multiple system injuries and no signs of life, and MDA teams pronounced him dead at the scene. Two additional victims – a 30-year-old man in serious and unstable condition with multiple system injuries, and a 25-year-old young man in serious condition with injuries to his abdomen and limbs – received medical treatment and were evacuated to Rambam Hospital.

Rescue teams: "A very serious accident with serious injuries"

Paramedic from the MDA motorcycle unit Yishai Levy, senior MDA paramedic Shevach Rothenstreich, and MDA paramedic Rani Jabor said that this was a very serious traffic accident. According to them, when they arrived at the scene, they noticed two private vehicles with severe body damage and three injured people next to them. The teams performed medical examinations on a man about 60 years old, but they had no choice but to declare him dead at the scene. The two other injured were given medical treatment that included stopping the bleeding, bandaging and immobilization, and they were evacuated in an MDA intensive care unit to the hospital.

The police have launched an investigation into the accident.
