(haipo) The Committee for Fundamental Planning Issues (CPPI) decided today (Tuesday, July 21, 2026) to recommend to the National Planning and Building Council the establishment of a new Druze settlement in the Yavor Junction area in the Galilee. The new settlement will cover an area of approximately 600 dunams and include approximately 1,000 housing units, with the aim of providing a long-term solution to the housing needs of the Druze population in Israel.
An alternative location to the plan set about a decade ago
This is an alternative location to the 2016 National Council decision, which determined the establishment of the settlement near Karnei Hitin. After examining the alternatives, the committee believed that establishing a new settlement on state-owned land would enable an available and long-term solution to the housing needs of the Druze population. The settlement is intended to provide a solution for the Druze community from all Druze settlements in Israel and to constitute a complementary solution alongside the continued development of the existing settlements. The committee determined that the proposed location, adjacent to the national road system, would provide high accessibility to employment areas, public institutions and services, and would enable quality planning. It was also noted that the new settlement would expand the variety of housing solutions and contribute to strengthening the settlement continuity in the area.
Director General of the Planning Administration: "Significant news for the Druze community"
Director General of the Planning Administration, Rafi Elmaleh, commented on the recommendation and said that "this is significant news for the Druze community. For many years, the development options of many of the Druze communities were limited, among other things due to their proximity to nature reserves, national parks and protected natural values, and therefore a complementary solution is also required in the long term." Elmaleh added that "the new community is intended to provide a solution for the community members from all the Druze communities in Israel and to provide housing options for the younger generation as well. Just as the State of Israel promotes the establishment of new communities for different populations in accordance with national needs, it is right and appropriate to also provide the Druze population with a planning solution that will ensure its continued development. We will continue to work in cooperation with the community representatives to promote planning and housing solutions that will suit the needs of the younger generation and for the years to come."

Election bullshit
For 30 years, "a new Druze settlement has been established"
The Druze leadership does not want a new settlement at all, but rather investment in existing settlements.
Bullshit
Elections are coming…
Bullshit
The decision is to recommend building, like the decision to build a bullet train from Kiryat Shmona to Eilat. You don't have to pay for recommendations, especially if it's before the elections and every vote counts.
They just didn't talk about the price.
The buyers will purchase the land at the full price in the millions, as we are required to pay in our communities in the area.
Or will there be discrimination again in favor of the Druze and they will receive land for a price of just tens of thousands?
So go live there, you racist bird, instead of living in some posh settlement of Kahanists.
Always crying, always getting closer, these coalition voters.
As for the blackest soul, this is a recommendation, not a decision, and it's before the upcoming elections, so it will be thrown in the trash like most of these decisions.
More than 16 years ago, Meir Shiurit Gezer made a film for the establishment of a new Arab settlement
Nooooo. Blessed is the believer who returns, not a new Jew, and establishes the current government with him.
Come on, that's probably how they attract small voters from the Druze sector.
Perhaps it is worth considering establishing a settlement in the buffer zone in the Golan, near the Israel-Syria border…
Both spaces, also neighbors and cousins, also steps to build trust with Syria…
In Haifa, 1000 housing units are being built on 100 dunams in 20-30 story towers. Why are the Druze given 600 dunams for 1000 villas, meaning that each villa will be over half a dunam. Why do we need to create 2030 segregated communities in Israel for Druze only? For the ultra-Orthodox only? For national religious only? For the kibbutz movement only? We haven't learned. Can't Druze participate in land auctions in existing communities in the Galilee? Of course they can. So why waste more resources and land to establish a community when the Druze have the same entitlement to an apartment, the same opportunity to purchase plots in existing communities, and it's also possible to finally build apartments on floors among the Druze, as is possible in any city in Israel? What will happen if they don't build villas, but 5-7 story buildings like in Tema 38 in Haifa? Will that hurt the feelings of the Druze people?
A good and rational thought is that a settlement for the Druze community in the Karni Hitin area is appropriate, and this is the right location.
But this government already established a village in Arbel 4 years ago, and the settlement is thriving and has 23000 residents. Why doesn't anyone know about the village?
Oh, in your dreams they set up
