(haipo) – The Central Bureau of Statistics has published real estate transaction data for the months of March-May 2026, and they paint a complex picture of the housing market in Israel. Among the cities that stand out in the report is Haifa, which continues to be a significant focus in the housing market, both new and second-hand. While the sale of second-hand apartments in the city recorded a significant decrease, the sale of new apartments actually showed stability and even a slight increase, which indicates a change in the purchasing habits of the region's residents.
Haifa: Decrease in second-hand sales, stability in new apartments
21.2% decrease in second-hand apartment sales in the city
According to CBS data, in Haifa, approximately 773 second-hand apartments were sold in the period March-May 2026, compared to 981 apartments in the previous period – a decrease of 21.2 %.
This figure places Haifa in second place in the country in the number of second-hand apartments sold, after Jerusalem, but indicates a significant slowdown in demand in this market.

Slight increase in new apartment sales
At the same time, Haifa recorded an increase of 4.3 % In the sale of new apartments – from 299 apartments in the previous period to 312 apartments in the months of March-May.
The figure indicates stability and even strengthening in demand for new apartments in the city, in contrast to downward trends recorded in other districts.
Haifa also leads in the number of apartments remaining for sale.
According to the report, in Haifa there are still for sale 4,306 new apartments, a figure that places it in fourth place in the country among large cities.
This high supply may affect apartment prices in the city in the coming months, especially given the decline in demand for second-hand apartments.

National View: General Trends in the Real Estate Market
- Total apartments sold in Israel in the period March–May 2026: 21,390.
- A decrease of 10.6 % Compared to the previous period.
