(haipo) – The Ministry of Construction and Housing today launched a recruitment process for professional workers for the renovation industry for the first time in the city of Kanpur, India. The move, which is being carried out in cooperation with the Population and Immigration Authority and the Renovation Contractors Association, is intended to address the ongoing shortage of professional manpower in the industry and expand the sources of recruitment of skilled workers.

1,200 candidates will be tested in the industry's core subjects
During the selection week, approximately 1,200 candidates will be tested in the plastering, flooring, drywall and construction trades. Workers who successfully pass the tests will undergo additional professional training prior to their arrival in Israel, with the aim of ensuring rapid and high-quality integration into the local renovation industry.
A direct continuation of the success in Sri Lanka
The activity in India joins a similar move carried out last year in Sri Lanka, where candidates for the renovation industry were tested and 1,633 employees successfully passed the screening process. The data reflects the high demand for professional workers and the importance of expanding the workforce pool in the industry.

"Expanding sources of recruitment – a key goal"
Director General of the Ministry of Construction and Housing, Yehuda Morgenstern, noted that the move in India is part of a broader strategy: "The launch of screenings in India is a direct continuation of the actions the ministry has taken over the past year to increase the pool of manpower in the construction and renovation industries. After the success of the screenings carried out in Sri Lanka, we are working to expand recruitment sources and create a professional and high-quality screening and training process."

"A professional and in-depth process in collaboration with field stakeholders"
Ariel Partosh, Director of Foreign Relations and Foreign Workers at the Ministry of Construction and Housing, added: "We are happy to come to India again, this time with the aim of recruiting workers for the renovation industry. The preparatory work, which lasted several months, with the authorities in India was professional and in-depth, and the conditions on the ground allow for a quality screening process. We hope to recruit additional professional workers who will help strengthen the industry in Israel."
