(haipo) - Two cases of violence against public transportation workers in Haifa took place last night (Thursday 20/4/23) • A passenger threw a stone at an inspector after he demanded he show a ticket • A scooter rider stood in front of the bus and drove to prevent the driver from continuing the journey.
A passenger threw stones at a driver and an inspector in Haifa
A Superbus inspector was attacked last night (Thursday 20/4/23) in the evening, near the Kiryat Ata junction, by a passenger who refused to pay. The inspector asked to check the passenger's Rav Ko card, the passenger claimed that he did not have it and refused to identify himself while threatening the inspector. The inspector asked for permission from the company to stop the bus as required, and was then beaten by the passenger.
After the driver intervened, the assailant got off the bus and threw a stone at the inspector who injured his hand and went for treatment. A complaint will be filed with the Zebulon police.

We stood in the middle of the road to prevent the driver from driving
Another case that happened last night (Thursday) in Haifa, occurred when a Superbus driver made a U-turn on one of the streets in the city where a scooter rider was traveling, in the area of the center of Horev. According to the rider, the driver hit him while turning. The rider stopped the scooter and stood in front of the bus in the middle of the road, trying to stop the driver's journey. The driver, who felt threatened by the rider's wild behavior, and in light of the increasing cases of violence against public transport drivers, refused to open the doors and tried to move forward slowly, while the rider remained in front of him and refused to move. In the end the rider had no choice and he got out of the way. The driver filed a police complaint.
The Superbus company gave Hai Fa in response:
"The Superbus company takes seriously the rampant cases of violence on the roads and against public transportation workers. The driver, who felt a threat to his life, filed a complaint following the incident at the end of the trip. We call on the Israel Police to do their job faithfully and eradicate the phenomenon."
Yossi Ozan, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Superbus Power for Employees:
"The inspectors are always at the bottom of the ladder. We are transparent both to the police and from the point of view of society. It is impossible for a person who is doing his job to be threatened on a daily basis. It is not possible for us to stand exposed in front of the passengers without enforcement powers and the police for their part closes the assault cases for lack of interest to the public.
As a regular passenger on public transportation, I am witness to the fact that many people do not attack Rabbi Ko. shame.
There are all kinds of comments here from people who talk about unfair or unfair treatment they received.
Ladies and gentlemen, it is sad to hear about the bitter experience, but this is no justification for behaving rudely! or put up with such behavior. It is appropriate to raise the complaints before the official authorities.
But the article here talks about a phenomenon of rogue behavior towards service providers on the one hand and a lack of backup on the other.
Drivers and inspectors should not be anyone's friends, and be sure they are not paid enough to increase their heads. Their job is to ensure arrival at the destination and that people will pay for this service. There is no justification for the repulsive behavior they endure on an hourly basis. And it's a shame they don't put policemen and security guards on the bus and throw out all the scumbags who spoil the trip for the entire bus (including the unfortunate driver).
The inspectors are unnecessary. Three come together, molest children, give reports to the poor. Not worth the salary they get.
Fire them and it's better yesterday.
I understand the anger and violence. They drive peaceful people crazy…..
I am a driver of the Hebrew Union celebrating and crime increasing. Some of the police officers deal in drugs and weapons and Kem receives benefits in Escorting and what else…….There is no enforcement and there is no longer trust in the police and the legal system in the harvest of a fifth world country.
"A scooter rider will stand in front of the bus and drive to prevent the driver from continuing his journey"
?
Nissa - learn Hebrew.
Violence is forbidden. It is neither cultural nor educational. Shabbos Shalom.
The scooter driver just wanted to exchange details with the driver. The driver hit the scooter, and refused to open the door and give him the details for the insurance. It's really not nice to slander the scooter driver here without hearing his side
I am against violence against the inspectors and drivers of the transport companies, but in light of my sad experiences with Egged drivers and my son's experience with an inspector about a year ago, I understand the anger towards them.
As for the drivers: I use a walking stick and always ask the driver not to drive until I sit down. More than once I get a speeding ticket and realize that this is not a special taxi and that's at best. Some simply ignore the request and drive away. Most drivers are fine but there are quite a few who are not.
As for the inspector: I have a disabled card on which it says "exemption from payment for an escort". My son accompanied me on the trip and in accordance with this paragraph did not validate his Rav Ko card.
An inspector got on the bus and I presented the certificate in front of the inspector and he demanded a certificate from the National Insurance, which is my lender. I explained that he is not registered there, but he can see that we both have the same last name, which means that he is my son.
The inspector was not convinced. Mabnei demanded to attack Rabbi Ko and gave him a fine for evading payment. He rudely explained that the exemption from payment is only given to an official lender of the National Insurance and/or the Ministry of Defense and if my son does not have an official permit, he must pay and the fact that he is my son does not interest him.
The inspector was rude and literally yelled at me that I was a cheater and a brat and a thief. My son and I saw him as a vile and rude person and decided not to confront him.
I turned to Egged. We argued that in terms of the dry law the inspector was right but understood the absurdity of the incident. They apologized, canceled the fine and even credited the card with a certain amount as compensation for heartache.
It is appropriate to guide the drivers and inspectors to the way of the land and respect for the citizen. I am convinced that those drivers who disregard my requests as well as the same inspector who insulted me and my son insult and harm the passengers and it is enough for a passenger to be hot-headed and the violence will take over.
You're right!
When there are more Arab drivers and inspectors who still hate Jews, then more than once there are indeed quite a few problems on their part with the general public who are Jewish! A friend tells me about a case where he previously paid an expensive price (~80) for a ride and due to a mistake he switched to another bus and did not pay again because he had already paid and the inspector gave him a fine of NIS 180 even though he paid on the grounds that he was with another company and had to pay again!! And it doesn't end here, he tells me that there was an Arab next to him who didn't pay for a ride and the Arab inspector turned a blind eye and continued to him and gave him a fine even though he paid.
Without a doubt, the apps are a serious loophole that gives a person a choice to decide whether to make a payment or not, which was not the case before.
totally right ….
