The Society for the Protection of Nature held a record day in Nahal Saadia. I joined the tour with a group of activists from the Adam and Environment Forum. On the tour we were exposed to a huge pirate dump that takes place in the area of Nahal Saadia. In the landfill we found a spill of construction waste, piles of asbestos and more. All this under the watchful eye of the Haifa municipality.

Responses

The Haifa Municipality responded: The Haifa Municipality is promoting, through the Yaffe Nof company, a comprehensive rehabilitation plan for the Check Post area, including Nahal Saadia. This is a natural gem located in an area of garages and factories, near a "dump" that operated there for decades. All of these caused extensive and deep pollution which the municipality is currently working to clean up.
As part of the restoration, the stream bed will be diverted, the stream water will undergo ecological treatment and a tourist park will be established in the public area. The works will be carried out in collaboration and according to the guidelines of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Nature Reserves Authority after preparing pollution surveys and determining measures to treat the contaminated land.
Until the restoration is carried out, the municipality works through the General Inspection Division to locate the land owners on the spot
that they be obliged to clean up the lands they own and restore the situation to its original state.

Carmel Water's response, the Haifa Water and Sewerage Corporation: A test of Carmel water shows that, as can be seen in the article, the flow comes from the rainwater drainage pipe. It is mistakenly stated in the article that it is a sewer. In any case, the source of the flow is probably the water reaching the drainage system from sources other than sanitary sewage (car washing, air conditioners, etc.). In any case, the water and sewerage corporation has carried out and continues to carry out an inspection. As far as it is found that there is any connection to the sewer infrastructure that is the responsibility of the corporation, the matter will be dealt with immediately.
Carmel Waters consider themselves loyal to the principles of preserving nature's values and will be happy to cooperate on these issues with all parties
