(Live here) – Fashion: This weekend we'll be switching to winter time, but in the wardrobe it's actually autumn time. From a pleasant morning to a warm afternoon, every new trend has to pass the weather test. Earthy colors, loose jackets, and wide pants offer a start to a new season, without waiting for the rain.
On the night between Saturday and Sunday, October 24–25, we will turn back the clocks at 02:00 to 01:00 and gain an extra hour of sleep. Evening will come earlier by the clock, but the short shirts will continue to accompany us a little longer. Autumn is already on the calendar; now it needs to find a place among the hangers.
What season are you wearing today?
Israeli autumn doesn't always announce itself. We go out in the morning with long sleeves, at noon we fold them up, and in the evening we're glad we didn't leave the jacket at home. In front of the closet, the question returns: What are we wearing today?
The White Rabbit from Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland, glancing at his pocket watch and hurrying off, fits well into this scene. We have to go out, time is running out, and the clothes that fit yesterday feel too warm today. You can almost imagine him pulling a jacket off the hanger and continuing on his way.
The extra hour we gain is a small opportunity to slow down, open the closet, and try a combination we haven't thought of yet.
Local autumn, European inspiration
When you think of fall fashion, it's easy to imagine a European street with fallen leaves, scarves, and coats. But even in Europe, the season changes from place to place, and you don't have to embrace the whole picture to enjoy the style.
In Israel, as in other warm destinations, you can take the colors, textures, and combinations from it and choose clothes that match the actual temperature. A deep brown shade, a plaid shirt, or a closed shoe can give an autumnal feel to even light clothing.
The choice of layers allows you to adapt throughout the day: A breathable base layer and a button-down shirt, thin knit, or jacket that can be removed when it gets hot.
Autumn is already in stores
This week I went out to the stores to photograph fall and winter clothes for the article. Among the hangers and mannequins, combinations of warm tones, roomy cuts, and textures that add interest to everyday clothes stood out.
In one show, a brown jacket and mustard pants created a rich look; in another, a sand-colored jacket was paired with cream pants and a touch of hamra. The bright clothes also remain part of the story and take on a new character alongside the autumnal layers.
What are the trends I encountered?
- Earth colors: Brown, caramel, sand, mustard and dark, combined with cream and light shades.
- Short, loose jackets: Dropped shoulders, large pockets, and textures in a leather and suede look.
- Wide pants: Straight and roomy cuts, alongside models with elastic waists and drawstrings.
- Slots: In shirts and scarves, as an added pattern for a smooth look.
- Comfort with style: Matching sets and sneakers alongside light jackets and pants, combining everyday with sophisticated.

And what about the fabrics?
Corduroy, fine wool, flannel, and tweed are part of the fabric repertoire associated with fall. Each adds a different texture: the stripes of corduroy, the softness of flannel, or the bold weave of tweed.
It's worth checking the thickness of the fabric, its composition, and its lining. A jacket that seems appropriate for the season may be too warm for the afternoon, while a lightweight version will allow for more uses. When measuring, it's worth putting your hands up, sitting down, and checking that it's comfortable even over another shirt.

Leading texture
You can let one texture take the lead and pair it with plain items. Corduroy pants with a simple cotton shirt, for example, create interest without overloading the look.

What's waiting in the wardrobe?
In C.S. Lewis's "Narnia," the wardrobe is a gateway to a magical world. Our wardrobe can also surprise us in the run-up to fall: a forgotten jacket, a favorite shirt, or a combination we haven't tried yet.
Before going shopping, it's a good idea to pair the items you already own. Light pants with a brown knit, a summer blouse under a jacket, or an open plaid shirt over a T-shirt. Sometimes all it takes to refresh your wardrobe is to open your closet and take a fresh look.
Wishing all Haifa readers a mild and warm winter beyond the clock.

Interesting article.
