(haipo) A serious indictment has been filed against a 69-year-old resident of Acre, suspected of terrorizing his wife, to whom he has been married for 45 years, blackmailing her with threats and demanding money to purchase drugs. The suspect was arrested by Acre police, and a request was filed to detain him until the end of the proceedings.
Investigation opened following report of violence and threats
The police at the Acre police station opened an investigation in August after receiving a report of suspected violence and threats by the suspect against his partner. The investigation revealed that the suspect demanded money from his wife to purchase drugs while blackmailing her with threats, curses, and intimidation. Among other things, it emerged that in one instance he woke her up in the morning, cursed at her, and demanded money while threatening her life. This behavior, as the investigation revealed, was part of an ongoing pattern of intimidation and verbal violence against his wife.
Threats to throw his wife out the window
Later that day, the suspect arrived under their house, accompanied by another person, and demanded that his wife throw him cash. When she replied that she did not have any money, he threatened to break down the door of the house and said: "If I go home, I will throw her out the window." Following the investigation, the police officers of the Acre police station arrested the suspect, and his detention was extended from time to time. Upon completion of the investigation, the Prosecutions Division of the Acre branch of the Israel Police filed a serious indictment against the suspect, along with a request to detain him until the end of the proceedings.
