What did I learn about Iranians in the public shelter?

No matter how many times a day the chilling sound of the siren blares from my smartphone, my heart always skips a beat, and my brain suddenly goes into "route recalculation" mode. This time it happened right when I was on my way to Sasson's grocery store, to pick up a package that had arrived, even though there are no flights to Israel.

At first I thought about running back to the police station at home, but when out of the corner of my eye I saw a young man on the sidewalk opposite, leaping with the determination of an Olympic sprinter towards a public shelter, I changed direction and ran after him.

The Parliament of Missiles

The public shelter was already packed to the brim with neighbors and casual passersby, huddled in silence and with worried faces. Some were reassuring family members on the phone, others were staring anxiously at the ceiling, waiting in suspense to hear the explosion of interceptors or a crash.

"I just don't understand," broke the silence an elderly lady, wearing an elegant butterfly pin on her lapel. "For three weeks we've been told on the news that the Iranian leaders, the missiles and the launchers are being destroyed. If everything is being destroyed, why am I still standing here with my hard drive broken and waiting for the fallout? Does anyone have a logical explanation?"

"It takes time, ma'am," the young man, the runner from the sidewalk, replied to her, "you need patience. War is not tick-tock or chick-chuck. Wars today are base-on-base wars."

“What is a proxy war?” the lady wondered.

"A war of patience with patience. Look at the Ukrainians, they have infinite patience. They have been fighting Vladimir for four years and never tire of teaching the Russians where the fish pee."

Iranians are like amoeba

"What patience and what shoes," burst out a young woman who was hugging a two-year-old toddler in her arms, who seemed mostly busy trying to eat the drawstring of her hoodie, "These Iranians are like amoebas. You kill one of their ayatollahs, and at that moment four more grow up with even longer beards. Destroy launchers? Within two days they print new ones in 3D, inside some bunker. If we're talking about patience, we don't stand a chance against them. They invented chess, we invented 'Takhlas.' We don't stand a chance against their patience."

"The lady is right," an elderly, wrinkled man responded from deep inside the shelter. He had a heavy Persian accent and a mischievous smile. "The Persians have missiles, ayatollahs, and patience in abundance. Until they get the happy Iranian out of their hands, they will continue."

"Who is the happy Iranian?" the young woman wondered, stopping to rock the toddler.

Enriched uranium (artificial intelligence image)

"The one in the operation with Kanawi, they managed to hide deep in a bunker, underground, so that we wouldn't find it," the older man clarified.

“Ah… you mean the enriched uranium they hid in the operation with Kalavi, before the Mossad managed to turn it into yellow cheese?” The older lady with the butterfly pin's face lit up.

"I mean the enriched uranium that made the Iranian happy. Rest assured that right now, at least one happy Iranian is sitting there planning the heck out of Bibi and Trump," the man shook his head.

Between arrogance and humiliation

Just then, two loud explosions were heard. The shelter shook slightly, and several pieces of plaster fell from the ceiling.

"That was close," the sprinter commented.

Silence fell upon those present. Everyone was lost in thought. The lady with the baby was the first to recover.

"Are you saying," she turned to the adult with the Persian accent, "that in the end there won't be a complete victory over Iran?"

"Manidi mayor ke shoban passhi," the man replied in a foreign language. "It's a Persian proverb," he explained, "which means: Don't bring arrogance with you, lest you be humiliated. I fear that instead of complete victory, we are on the road to complete humiliation," he replied seriously.

Chess of mistakes

The people in the shelter looked at him in silence.

Ten minutes later, when the siren sounded, we went outside. The sky was gray and a light rain had begun to fall. I looked around and breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed that this time our street had come out unscathed.

I made my way to Sasson's grocery store. I wanted to pick up the package before another alarm went off. When I entered, Sasson was standing behind the counter, polishing a glass.

“Did you hear the explosions?” I asked.

"I must have heard, all the windows were shaking in here," he said, "Did you come to pick up a package?"

At that exact moment, the older man with the Persian accent entered the store. When he saw me, he waved his hand and smiled.

"Hello Nissan," said Sasson, "Do you know each other?"

"Yes," I replied, "we spent time together at the shelter not long ago."

"So Nissan must have spoiled your mood with his theory about the war," laughed Sasson. "If Trump and Bibi had consulted with him, the ayatollahs would have been hiding in Moscow long ago, along with Assad."

"You don't need me to understand that," Nissan smiled, "Can I have my package?"

How will all this end?

When Sasson turned to look for the packages, I turned to Nissan.

"How do you think this will end?"

"If it were up to me, I would have stopped the war when they were in shock, after the first blow. I wouldn't have eliminated those we eliminated. The lady in the shelter was right. There's no point, they're like amoebas. But now it's too late."

"What do you mean too late?"

"I think Trump has already realized his mistake. He realized there's no point in putting them with their backs to the wall because it leads to the opposite results. He will compromise with them. They are fanatics but not stupid."

“…So what will happen when the war is over?” I asked.

"When the war is over, the Iranian people will be more unhappy, the Israeli people will be more worried, the Americans will be indifferent, the Gulf states will be disappointed, and the ayatollahs? They will be delighted. We will go back in time. What was is what will be – the ayatollahs will rule, enrich uranium and get rich from oil, we will open Arrow 7, and the Mossad will find new methods to turn uranium into cheese," Nissan concluded cynically.

Sasson handed us the packages and went back to polishing the glass.

"I'm not a great commentator," he intervened in the conversation, "but I disagree with you, Nissan," Sasson said.

"What do you think will happen?" Nissan asked.

Is patience an effective tool when you have no more pieces left on the board? (Artificial Intelligence image)

"You know how to play chess, right Nissan?" Sasson asked and continued after Nissan nodded, "...so you know that in a game of chess, if you are left with almost no pieces on the board, no matter how patient you are, you cannot win. In reality, as in a game of chess, there is a ticking clock that forces the players to decide on the next move. The Ayatollahs don't have many pieces left and many moves to make."

“I hope you’re right,” Nissan said, “so what do you think will happen?” he asked.

"Trump will continue to hit them together with us, the regime will collapse due to lack of money to finance its people, the Iranians will take to the streets en masse and gain the support of the army, and large parts of the Revolutionary Guards will join them, after they realize that all is lost."

"Now all we have to do is find out how many tools the ayatollahs have left on the board and how much patience Trump has left, to know which of you two is right," I said and went outside.

I looked at the sky. It was bright and smiled back at me.

  1. In my opinion, the war will be decided by the complete surrender of the Iranians after the US takes control of the Straits. Trump and Netanyahu will gain immense respect, and the status of the Europeans will decline.
In Lebanon, the war will end with the collapse of the Lebanese state, chaos in their streets, and a civil war that will truly weaken Hezbollah, in contrast to today's situation where our media plays their game of supposedly good and bad people, while everyone there stands behind Hezbollah as long as Israel is involved.

  2. In my opinion, the war will be decided by a ceasefire and supervision of nuclear facilities.
Netanyahu will of course declare this a victory. We will continue in the Lebanese mud with a minimal security zone like in Gaza after an international committee presses for withdrawal.
Sara Netanyahu will announce her joining the Likud list in the elections.
Benjamin Netanyahu will announce his resignation as prime minister at the end of the summer for health reasons. Likud will convene and elect Sara Netanyahu as the movement's chairwoman and its candidate for the elections.
Sara Netanyahu with the campaign 'I am the head, I am a leader' with Benjamin Netanyahu standing behind her in the campaign photo. She will sweep the right and women in the center bloc and win by a large margin.

  3. This is a religious war... Israel must control Arab education! Teach liberalism and the separation of religion from the state! According to Or and former rabbi Yaron Yedan

  4. Lots of speculation but one thing is certain:
If it weren't for our Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who initiated and carried out heroic attacks back in the land of the Klavdi and continued with attacks bordering on the unimaginable these days on Iranian soil, they would probably already have several nuclear bombs ready to launch, and then no shelter would have helped us.
And imagine a fictional scenario where Gantz or Lapid or Bennett or Golan were prime minister - would they dare to take such actions? And a more significant question would be whether the most powerful man in the world would leave the issues that interest him most (the economy) and dare to go with one of them, barely with the support of his party, not to mention the entire American public, to an event of such an expensive magnitude?

    • Dear bird, I don't know what reality you live in and who you serve, but each of the politicians you mentioned was and will be a thousand times better than the man you admire.
The following text, written by Ami Dror, reflects the bitter truth:
It's time to face reality: While the IDF is achieving impressive strategic achievements, Iran is winning this war by points. The original opening goal of the fighting, the change of government in Tehran, as promised by Trump and Netanyahu, has simply failed. The Iranians managed to prevent this and from the very beginning turned the struggle into a regional and global war that attacks their neighbors with much greater force than Israel. They have created a global energy war, one that every American citizen who goes shopping feels very strongly in their pocket.
So yes, we can be told every day that we have destroyed another 1/100 of their capabilities, but in practice, both in Lebanon and in Iran, they are winning simply because they survive. Don't get confused, they control the pace and manage the armaments economy. Note that the Houthis did not enter the event at all and are used as a reserve.
We must say this clearly: the IDF fighters are doing a phenomenal job. They eliminated the monsters who ran Iran with amazing precision, and for that they deserve all the credit. But the reality on the ground in Israel is simply the opposite of these successes. Israel is under siege. There are almost no incoming or outgoing flights. The most active "Israeli" airport is in Taba. The education system has been shut down for a month, and the passive damage to the Israeli economy and Israeli students is simply insane. In the north, people are living under infernal fire with a complete loss of governance. IDF soldiers are sitting in Lebanon like ducks at a shooting range.
While we look north and east, Gaza is arming itself at a frightening pace and Hamas is already preparing us for the next Netanyahu massacre. In the territories, Jewish terrorist organizations have completely taken over the territory. Inside Israel, criminal organizations have taken over the Arab sector. The "let's die before we enlist" government, in a cynical move, decided to call up 400,000 reserve soldiers, when in reality the reserve army available is about half that number and is getting smaller every day. Even on the morning after the Netanyahu massacre, when every pensioner enlisted, the real reserve army numbered about 300,000 soldiers.
How did we get to this point? The answer lies in the leadership failure of Benjamin Netanyahu and Donald Trump. Netanyahu, with a polished wink, sold Trump a false representation of a “quick historic victory.” Trump, in his narcissism, chose to believe Netanyahu and not his loyal advisors. These two narcissists underestimated Iran just as Netanyahu underestimated Hamas on the eve of Netanyahu’s massacre. Trump’s threats have become embarrassing and hollow, reminiscent of the embarrassing threats of Ben Gvir and the ultra-Orthodox against Netanyahu: “Catch me, I’ll mow you down in 48 hours,” “In five days I’ll crush you,” “In two weeks I’ll bring them up.” This is a terrible display of American weakness that is reminiscent of Putin’s collapse of illusion in Ukraine, when he thought he would subdue a country in one weekend.
Ultimately, it all comes down to one person. A prime minister who is up to his neck in criminal indictments is unfit to lead a country. Netanyahu is a serial gambler who has brought upon us hundreds of kidnappings, thousands of deaths, and tens of thousands of injuries. The reckless ideology of "let's die rather than enlist" that he adopted to preserve his seat has dismantled the army and Israeli cohesion from within. The greatest threat to Israel's security, the Middle East, and the free world is Benjamin Netanyahu and his deranged family. The entire world needs to wake up and realize that this man and his family need to be stopped, and their natural place is behind bars, just like Milosevic, Ceausescu, and their ilk.

    • Mr. Elimelech, all the ralvim who stand in awe in the face of Netanyahu and Trump's achievements, and of course the IDF for its good commanders and soldiers, should be treated with caution. Some of them receive a platform on the ralvim channels and websites themselves and align themselves with them in order to receive another platform. If they were telling the truth, it is doubtful that they would be heard there anymore.
The events of 7/10, according to many, happened because of the leftist demonstrations and the incitement of some leftist channels that encouraged them to go out to demonstrations and the painful division that existed in the people at that time. Netanyahu rescued the hostages, every last one alive and dead, as he promised.
Israel is winning on all fronts and controlling Gaza at important points there, seizing a significant amount of territory from the enemy militarily and on the way to doing the same in some of the villages up to the Litani. There is no painful loss for this enemy and losing its land. If you had been born and lived their lives, you would understand this more than the Western perspective.
Iran and Hezbollah are indeed creating a complex situation in Israel these days on the home front, but they are not really fighting militarily, certainly not in relation to the extreme events that military officials initially estimated we would experience here, but rather as terrorist organizations launching random missiles at population centers, and Israel and the IDF are fighting according to international law against military/strategic targets (you are smart enough to understand that if Israel had used their methods, the war would have been decided in a few hours).
Regarding the organizations in Judea and Samaria that you mentioned, this is again propaganda that unfortunately harms Israel's image in the world and is pumped up by some of the leftist channels again. Indeed, here and there there are exceptional incidents involving our dear people who are the first line of defense and the vast majority of whom are law-abiding and patriots of the first order, and they are not trivial compared to incidents of hatred by the Palestinians towards our people today, which the media simply does not report.
Allow me not to address your position that some of the politicians mentioned would probably be willing to sit with the supporters of the Palestinians in that government, which is preferable to the current government, because after all, I'm sure you are in favor of the State of Israel and not against it.
