Lecture "A Journey Back in Time to Africa as Hunter-Gatherers" with Tal Niv
Tal Niv, a level 3 certified tracker at the global tracking organization CyberTracker, a reserve tracker in the Marul unit with over 300 reserve days. He deals with an "ancient connection" to nature and through it a deep connection to the heart, teaches tracking and the language of birds, and leads expeditions to the San "Bushmen" in the Kalahari of Namibia (modern-day hunter-gatherers).
Niv will tell us about wild Africa, about the primal connection to nature, about tracking lions, and about meeting people connected to nature, in a way that we all lived not long ago, when nature was our home, and not just something we came to visit.

The exhibition is currently on display at the museum. "Voice of Africa: The African Collection Rediscovered"Curated by Dorit Shapir and sponsored by the Federman family, in memory of Yekutiel Federman, a major contributor to the Africa Collection.

This is a new and particularly rare exhibition in Israel, including approximately 300 items from various cultures in Africa. Since the closure of the Haifa Ethnological Museum in 1995, the African collection of the Haifa Museums, which includes approximately 1,000 items, has remained hidden from the public eye after being transferred to warehouses. In recent years, the Collections Department of the Haifa Museums has carried out a process that included re-cataloging, photographing the collection, and in-depth research with the help of international researchers. In addition, various works and exhibits have been restored. The collection's items are the contributions of enthusiastic collectors from around the world, who have studied cultures throughout Africa with interest and passion. The re-presentation of the collection has also opened the door to its expansion, through new gifts that were given to the museum and are being displayed in the exhibition for the first time.

The exhibition takes visitors on a fascinating journey through the diverse cultures of sub-Saharan Africa, with each gallery revealing a different cultural aspect: items from South Africa intended for body decoration and signifying the wearer's socioeconomic status, items from West Africa associated with ritual ceremonies for communicating with ancestors, items that teach us about traditions of prophecy and healing, and items that display a unique African-European hybrid style and testify to the European colonialism of the African continent. The exhibition "Voice of Africa" once again gives voice to these works and invites viewers to immerse themselves in the diverse and vibrant cultures of Africa.
