(Haipo) – The Haifa metropolitan area's public transportation system is expected to undergo a significant upgrade, with the expansion of the metro network south to Tirat Carmel and western Haifa. As part of a large-scale infrastructure project, budgeted at approximately 620 million shekels, two new metro extensions will be paved that will connect the Matam intersection with the Ma'ale Carmel Medical Center in Tirat Carmel on the one hand, and with the southern neighborhoods of Neot Peres and Movavat in Haifa on the other.
The extensions, with a total length of approximately 10 kilometers and 30 new stations, will be integrated into the future transportation network of the Carmel region. Their goal: to provide a fast, reliable and accessible transportation solution for the region's residents, and to enable efficient intercity movement without the need for a private vehicle.
Priority lanes, grade separation and new infrastructure
The electrically operated metro will travel on designated lanes that include complete separation from private vehicles and priority at traffic lights. This will allow for a significant reduction in travel times and accurate planning of schedules. In addition, as part of the work, water, sewage, electricity and communication infrastructure will be upgraded, bicycle paths and accessible sidewalks will be established, existing trees will be relocated and new trees will be planted.
One of the key components of the Ministry of Transportation project, which will be carried out through the Cross-Israel Company, is the grade separation at the Matam intersection, one of the busiest intersections in the area, which is expected to allow free traffic flow for private vehicles from north to south, while maintaining the continuity of metro traffic.

Sections in execution and schedule The project is divided into several execution sections:
- DP1 – In progress: A section connecting the Matam Intersection with Tirat Carmel along Highway 4, including four Metro stations, infrastructure upgrades and the addition of new intersections to the "Southern Entrances B" neighborhood.
- DP2 – Start of execution: 2025: A section in the center of Tirat Carmel along Herzl Street, including ten Metro stations, widening the street, and regulating parking and traffic in the city.
- DP3 – In progress: The Sami Ofer area includes three metro stations, bike paths, and upgraded drainage and communication infrastructure.
- DP4 – Start of execution: 2026: An eastern connection between Tirat Carmel and the developing neighborhoods of Haifa, including four stations and a transportation terminal.
- DP5 – In progress: South Tirat Carmel, a metro line that reaches Ma'ale Carmel Medical Center, includes nine stations, a terminal, and an upgrade of the street route.
- DP6 – Start of execution: 2025: The Matam Intersection section includes six Metro platforms, bike paths, grade separation, and extensive infrastructure upgrades.

Complementary projects: transportation continuity and pedestrian bridge
In parallel with the promotion of the main lines, two complementary projects are being promoted:
The first is the extension of a public transportation lane (PTL) from the west along Highway 4, for the sake of transportation continuity to the Matam intersection. The second is the construction of a pedestrian bridge over Highway 4 at the entrance to Sammy Ofer Stadium, which will allow safe crossing and connect the sports complex to commerce and public transportation from the west.
The expansion of the metro network positions Haifa and Tirat Carmel as leading cities in transportation renewal and green and accessible urban planning. If the schedules are indeed maintained, residents of the area will benefit from advanced, accessible, and modern-day public transportation in the coming years.

As usual in Haifa, everything is crooked.
Builders
But crooked
No one needs a huge, noisy bridge that will darken the entrance to the city and turn it into a Kiryat Ata junction or a checkpoint.
If you want to fly the vehicles on Highway 4, then divert the route towards the end so that it does not pass through the neighborhoods, or if you still want it to pass exactly there, then build a long tunnel (at least 400 meters), so that pedestrians do not feel this heavy traffic at all.
If you want to promote entry into the city and turn it into the true and new center of the city, you must make the area walkable and take care of pedestrians.
In addition, ensure that there is a mix of uses on at least 2 main streets in the new neighborhood in Neot Navon that connect to the main areas at the Matam and Latira intersections.
Without thinking about pedestrians, this city will not rise anywhere and Haifa will remain one big, sleepy old suburb with no young people or future.
It is up to you to create true continuity between Tira South Haifa and Tamm, which will create a reason for young people to move to the city and make it a true center of a real city.
You need to seize the opportunity before it's too late.
Tel Aviv dismantled the Dizengoff Square elevation and eliminated "transport continuity."
It also dismantled the Maariv Bridge.
All over the world, municipalities are removing bridges in the heart of the city. The bridges are a nuisance, giving priority to transportation over walking in the city. They cause accidents by accelerating transportation instead of slowing it down.
The checkpoint in Haifa is cut up by bridges and therefore deserted by pedestrians. It's a hostile environment for the city where no one would go for a nice run or walk.
The illusion of "connection":
The word connection is an illusion. In a car, you don't connect, you skip. You don't stop. You disconnect. You turn places into abandoned and neglected places. The bridges over the Matam intersection will create a physical, visual and urban disconnect. Highway 4 is an anti-urban freeway. The entire city of Hayzah is working to turn it into a bustling urban road, with sidewalks and trees and businesses.
Tel Aviv also had a road like this, called Begin Road, and now they're repairing the damage. They're taking down bridges. They're eliminating interchanges. They're recreating an urban fabric at pedestrian level. Trees. Bicycles. Shops.
In Jerusalem, too, Jaffa Street was a congested and noisy highway in the heart of the city. They removed the traffic and revitalized the center of Jerusalem.
All over the world, municipalities have realized that pedestrians are the key to a healthy city. That efficient public transportation is needed, not freeways and interchanges for more private cars, because that would destroy the city.
I call on the City Council to understand that deadly and destructive damage will be caused by the Matam interchange.
Connecting Tirat Carmel to Haifa must be done with a metro, with the addition of bus lines, by canceling free parking on the beaches for residents outside Haifa, which will ease the traffic jam on Route 4, by transferring residents to reach Haifa by public transportation. Anyone who drives through the interchange will simply ignore Haifa and turn the southern entrance area into a noisy, polluted, and still congested wasteland.
What else did they forget to reveal to the public? That the elementary school and the kindergartens adjacent to it, approved in the plan HF/2185A (Neot Peres Mizrahi - 'Mordot Freud') were actually canceled by the Haifa Municipality - and the result will be a severe shortage of educational buildings in the Mordot Freud neighborhood - which even in the approved state has a deficit in public spaces, a shortage of 2.8 dunams originally, ignoring the new cancellation detailed above. The result is additional congestion on the roads, in order to distribute in the morning and collect in the afternoon the kindergarten, dormitory and elementary school children - the distribution into remote areas since the schools and kindergartens that are expected to be built in the southern entrances plan (Neot Navon) do not meet the needs since they will be built in accordance with the program of building 5,072 units, when in reality 6,000 units are expected to be built (most of which have already been granted building permits or a decision has been made to approve the construction) in this complex. The cancellation of the school and kindergartens was carried out, according to suspicion, for non-material reasons related to the benefit of one of the developers close to the Haifa government's success.
When we base transportation solutions on a transportation feasibility study (TFS) from 2016, which was already incorrect in 2016, at the time of its preparation, and was already determined in 2018 by the person who conducted it that it needed to be updated, then we are expected to get severe transportation chaos. It is important to understand that in the built-up Neot Peres, there are currently 1,700 units. To which will be added in the southern entrances plan an additional 6,000 units, in addition to the Neot Peres East project (Freud's slopes) and adjacent to it part of the Tel Aharon Lincoln plan - which include approximately 1,300 units, and in total this is an addition of approximately 7,300 units to the current viability - a 5.3-fold increase compared to the current situation, in other words, this is one big traffic jam. It is important to mention that the road route, connecting Neot Peres to the Carmel Ridge axis through the future neighborhoods of 'Ramat Eshkol B' and 'Ramat Gural' - which was approved in the 2000/2019 plan (XNUMX) was illegally canceled by the planning authorities - which is expected to jam traffic both in the Carmel Ridge and in the Neot Peres area - and this matter, according to suspicion, serves the illegal interests of some of those pulling the strings, so we would therefore have, by distributing several hundred million more NIS, in excessive amounts, In the hands of the managing and loyal hands, on the way to one big traffic jam.
Check Post only in West Haifa
Absolutely. They don't know how to build communities in Haifa.
The entire Carmel is completely congested – there are no exits from Harofeh Street and the Carmel Ridge, and money is being burned on infrastructure that is not necessarily needed, a dream.
psychos
The Peres neighborhood will be the conduit that will absorb the load from all directions!!! Solutions and detours must be found for those coming down from the Carmel, not going down through the neighborhood!!!
It's one hour earlier🙏💪
"Excellent for all the "city-zones
= CITIZEN…✨️😂
On this "festive" occasion... with the arrival of the "good news" on the occasion of the blooming "spring"... 🙏 and with the anticipation of the "sunrise" "summer"... 🙏 and before the "sunset"...👀 I would recommend: "Unification of authorities" is required from the "triangular" combination👀:
The "topography" & "geography" & "population growth" in our area: "The Beautiful Haifa Metropolis" + "Nesher" + "Carmel Castle" that penetrated into the depths of The Beautiful Haifa ❤️
It makes sense to unite the three authorities and, along the way, separate from Kiryat Haim, which is not related.
What doesn't make sense is:
1. That the heads of authorities agree.
2. If 🧒🧓🧑🦲🧑🦳 ✍️ with lots of symbols :O(^o^) and they will think it is 🧊 and clearer.
Ronen, the role of the "government" currently in office is to "decide" on this important issue; "unifying the authorities" into large, strong, and therefore "high-quality" "city-rings" in every way...! "The service to the citizen" in certain areas - in "everyday affairs" will continue to be provided in this or that "residential/living area" according to a renewed/renewed logical division into "neighborhoods" as is also the case in large cities in "Europe" or even here, in "Tel Aviv-Jaffa"...! In other areas, "Beautiful Haifa" already provides today (and in the past!) almost all the developed "health services" such as: hospitals, health centers, nursing homes, etc. & developed "cultural/art/sports services" such as: cinemas, museums, theaters, etc. And also developed "academic institutions": on a national and even international level such as: "University of Haifa + "Technion" which is a household name in Israel and abroad...!
And of course, as is well known, the "beach" strip from "Carmel Beach" to "Bat Galim"... the "promenade"/parks with its many "restaurants"... + the wide variety of large "malls" throughout "Beautiful Haifa", "Bahai Garden"; "festivals" of all kinds; "antiquities" and "history"; "Nature of the Carmel", etc.
In short and to the point, I highly recommend it! I think it's "the order of the day"...!!!!!@@@@@😭
Where are the trees? Put trees!!!
Can you attach a map of the changes?
