(live here) – Talpiot market returns to us • When? - The merchants of the Talfiot market building were supposed to move to the renovated entrance floor at the beginning of last week, which has not happened until today (Sunday 11/2/24).

Difference of heaven and earth
"The rare Talpiot market will be renovated similar to the food markets in Barcelona and Budapest and will be connected with electric escalators to its surroundings. Haifa will be a cosmopolitan city and a global model of shared life." These things were said, promised and written in the passport or the red book of Haifa Mayor Dr. Einat Kalish Rotem when she ran in the 2018 mayoral elections.
Five years later, and two weeks before the upcoming elections for the local authorities, the condition of the market looks as it was, except for the renovation of the entrance floor of the market building. But there is a difference between heaven and earth between Talfiot market and the markets that the mayor aspired to resemble.

Promises separately and reality separately
Many articles have been written about the Talfiot market in Haifa, the market that with investment and real desire can become the most beautiful in Israel and even compete with well-known and well-known markets in the world. Indeed, every time they promise to raise the market level to international. But for some reason, time after time, in the result of the test, the traders, residents and visitors are left to deal with the existing situation.
Last week the Haifa Municipality was proud of the small step taken in the market building - the renovation of the entrance floor of the market (completion of the first phase of the project). It was announced that the merchants' transition to the renovated floor will begin on Sunday and Monday (4-5/2/24). However, today, Sunday (11/2/24) we visited the Talpiot market and saw that the merchants had not moved, and that they are located as always on the minus 1 floor. The renovated floor is still empty and has not yet been activated.
The local merchants told Hai Fa with a discouraged smile that they don't really know when the transition will take place. According to them, they were supposed to move last week, but it didn't happen. They are waiting for an update. In the meantime, they said that there are works of connection to the water that have not yet been carried out.

Prolonged neglect that goes on for years and years
The Talfiot market building is a historic building, where renovations are being carried out as part of a strategic plan for the restoration of the entire complex, which also includes the renovation of the open market and Sirkin Street. As mentioned, currently only one floor in the building has been renovated and has not yet been put into operation.
Regarding the open market - the situation remains the same. Apart from the good goods that are renewed every day - the streets are dirty, the stalls are the same stalls, the sheds are the same sheds. Talfiot Market is an asset in the city of Haifa and if it is indeed renovated and upgraded, everyone will enjoy and benefit - both the merchants, the residents and the city.

Talpiot market chairman Nissim Salman:
The open market looks the same, nothing has changed. Every time they promise and promise - it's all stories. Regarding the market building, the merchants were supposed to move last week to the renovated entrance floor, but the entrance was postponed until 15/2/24. We will wait and see if the transition happens. In the meantime, each time they say that there is a different problem. An investment in a budget of NIS 50 million can turn the Talfiot market into a market like no other in the world within six months to a year of serious work.

Except for the floor and stalls, they did not do any renovation. They just covered the building with a sheet that looks like it's been renovated.
As soon as the sheet is torn from the elements, the place will look shabby again.
80 million? Two new buildings are being built. Everyone knows the amazing renovations to historical buildings in Tel Aviv. What is happening here is not so clear. For a tenth of the amount, this building should have been restored at an international level within two years maximum.
I think that most of the money went to repeated publications of the desperate mayor and municipality of our beautiful city. I also went this week especially to see the innovation....what a disappointment and neglect....they didn't do anything there....the mayor announced the bench that was built next to it....misery and despair....
Hahahahaha in another hundred years the merchants or the sons of the merchants will move to the top floor everything is corrupt in Israel third world in China or any normal country it would take a few months
The entire upper floor was renovated, what have you done?
Let's check another topic. promised to network the neighborhoods of Haifa with bicycle paths. So what are we going to do?! is nothing!
Even in new Rehovot streets like Ariel Sharon Street and Lordia, they didn't bother to make a bike path.
Zibi-Zibovi.
Lol, that's what she calls renovation. What an insulting insult.
All cliche propaganda is based on scams.
Hahahahaha the passports of Klish from 2018
Nothing of what was written there came true
You know something, she was right - many already need a 'passport' to return to Haifa after they left because of Yahav and because of her.
Also on her list - for example Lazimi left for Holon.
Everyone left her list as well, and part of Haifa as well.
What we need is a mayor with management skills and experience - Borovsky.
Why is everything going wrong in this town?
Like the Rat Walk in Bat Galim which is still closed and locked to the public, four years after its opening was announced. Einat Klish starts projects with a lot of noise and then they get stuck and abandoned.
Good luck, in the end it will be a world class market
A market in a building so beautiful from the outside can be amazing. It is hoped that better days will come to Talpiot market.
Already in October they announced that the renovation was completed and the building was opened to the public...Is the Haifa municipality lying?
Check who had an interest in delaying this renovation for more than five years and who earned all the tens of millions transferred for that purpose... and still the bottom line: the building has not been renovated, not even one floor out of the three.
How long does it take to renovate one floor in this building? Five years have passed since the renovations began and this floor is still not ready and the merchants are still on the old, neglected floor. Haifa, Haifa a city without a future...
