(Haipo) – Volunteers from the Israel Police's Galilee-Carmel Rescue Unit recently completed a double rescue in the Carmel Nature Reserve, after two female teachers in their 50s injured their legs during a hike in the Alon Stream. The two received initial medical treatment on the spot and were evacuated by ambulance to the hospital.

A message from the Ministry of Education's situation room prompted the rescue operation.
The incident began with a report from the Ministry of Education's Situation Room about a 50-year-old teacher who had tripped during a hike in the Alon Stream in the Carmel Nature Reserve and injured her leg. A rescue team from the "Galil-Carmel" rescue unit was immediately called to the area and began entering the trail to reach the injured woman. As the team advanced to the injured teacher, a report was received of another incident about half a kilometer away, at the connection of the trails in the Alon Valley, in which another 50-year-old teacher also injured her leg and suffered a suspected fracture.

Medical treatment in the field and evacuation on stretchers outside the reserve
The rescue unit teams joined the two injured women in the field and provided them with initial medical treatment on the spot. Afterwards, the two teachers were evacuated on stretchers outside the reserve area, along a rocky and steep path that characterizes the Nahal Alon trails. Outside the reserve boundaries, ambulances were waiting to evacuate the two injured women for further medical treatment at the hospital. The double rescue operation was successfully completed thanks to the quick action of the unit volunteers, who were required to split up and treat two separate incidents simultaneously in challenging terrain.
