Severe, life-threatening allergic reaction
Haim Avni, paramedic and deputy head of the Carmel-Karyot branch of the United Hatzalah, arrived at the scene on Ehud Manor Street in Kiryat Bialik after receiving a report of a 27-year-old man who had developed an acute and severe allergic reaction. Avni recognized that this was a life-threatening situation and acted quickly to provide the young man with first aid. The paramedic injected the young man with an EpiPen — an automatic injector used to inject a measured amount of adrenaline — in order to stop the allergic reaction and prevent his condition from worsening.
The young man was taken to the hospital after his condition stabilized.
After the EpiPen injection, the young man's condition began to stabilize. He was later taken to a hospital for further medical treatment and monitoring. Haim Avni said that the quick action at the scene was critical to saving the young man's life, who developed an acute and severe allergic reaction.
The United Rescue Organization, the national volunteer organization, operates throughout the country, including in the Carmel and Krayot regions, with its volunteers arriving at the scenes of medical incidents and providing life-saving first aid until additional medical teams arrive.
