Suspected trafficking in military weapons: A soldier and two civilians were arrested

(haipo) The Coastal and Northern Military Police Commanders have uncovered a serious case of suspected trafficking in military weapons. As part of the investigation, three suspects were arrested, including a soldier serving at a military base in the north of the country. The two civilians were brought before the Haifa Magistrate's Court, and the soldier was brought to a detention hearing at the Military Court.

Joint investigation uncovers military weapons trafficking case

The Central Unit (Yamr) of the Coastal District conducted the investigation in cooperation with the Northern Yamr of the investigating military police. This is a serious case involving suspected trafficking in military weapons. At the end of joint investigative and operational activity, three suspects were arrested on suspicion of involvement in the case, including a soldier serving at a military base in the north of the country. The three were transferred for investigation in order to clarify the full scope of the case and its circumstances.

The suspects were brought before a court for an extension of detention.

In accordance with the needs and findings of the investigation, the two suspected citizens were brought before the Haifa Magistrate's Court today with a request to extend their detention. The suspected soldier was brought to a detention hearing before the military court, and his detention was extended until this coming Wednesday for investigation purposes. At the conclusion of the investigation, the findings will be forwarded to the Attorney General's Office for review.

The Israel Police and the investigating military police emphasized that they will continue to act with determination and cooperation against the trafficking and leakage of military weapons into unauthorized hands, which pose a real danger to public security and may be used to commit serious criminal offenses.
