(haipo) – At the City Council meeting held yesterday (7/7/26), a proposal for an order was discussed that deals with the system of narrow roads in western Kiryat Haim, roads that were designed in the 50s to be only 2.5 meters wide, and today constitute a real safety hazard and a harm to the quality of life of the residents.
Council member Moti Blitzblau (Greens, Blue and White) warned that without new planning and creative solutions, the neighborhood's residents will continue to deal with roads that do not allow passage for emergency vehicles and municipal services. At the end of the discussion, the issue was transferred to the city engineer.

Council member Moti Blitzblau warns: "Residents are trapped, rescue and service vehicles cannot enter, the municipality must present a solution, not excuses"
The internal road system in western Kiryat Haim, designed more than seven decades ago, continues to pose a significant challenge to residents and emergency services. According to the proposal submitted by Councilman Moti Blitzblau, the roads, which are only 2.5 meters wide, some of them unnamed and only have letters, have become a real traffic trap.
Over the years, four housing units were built in each lot in the inner lots, and as part of the 2000 plan, an additional unit can be added. The increasing density, along with outdated planning, creates a reality in which private vehicles, rescue vehicles, and even garbage collection vehicles have difficulty entering the paths.
Blitzblau presented a striking example fromaxis Sword to you: Residents initiated the widening of the path at the expense of a small part of the lot, which increased its width to 3.5–4 meters. But when one of the residents carried out TAMA 38 and built a wall to the edge of the lot, in accordance with the plan, the entrance to the path was narrowed again, to the point that service vehicles cannot pass.
According to Blitzblau, the municipality's response that "the plans do not allow for expansion" or that there are "encroachments beyond the lot lines" is not sufficient. "The municipality cannot hide behind planning reasons and just say no or impossible," he said. "Residents will be trapped, and rescue and service vehicles will not be able to enter. The municipality needs to say what can be done."

The proposal for the order: new planning and specific expropriations
Blitzblau presented three main demands:
- Holistic examination of the trail system In western Kiryat Haim and promoting new urban planning for the complex.
- Weighing the tubercle of narrow strips From the lots in favor of widening the narrow roads.
- Transferring the issue to the engineering manager For the purpose of preparing an agreed plan with public participation.
In conclusion
The council discussion highlighted the gap between outdated urban planning and the modern needs of the residents of western Kiryat Haim. The issue has been referred to the city engineer, but residents expect a practical solution that will allow safe passage for emergency and service vehicles and prevent further damage to the quality of life in the neighborhood.

These are alleys.
Not narrow roads
The narrower the street, the more expensive the apartment next to it.
How is this explained?
Simple – a police car can't drive fast in the narrow streets, so it's impossible to surprise you in your home.
I have an idea for Moti. Ask the state for a budget from the secondary to build a high-rise and demolish all the old houses. You will have a great city with all the services. What's more, there will be room in the fuel farm and the Hapoel Haifa stadium we shared. I want a lot of money in advance, also for the suffering from the groundwater and the asbestos that the Haifa municipality spreads because it has no solution for anything. You should sue your mother for everything.
I see that the honorable member of the municipality is making ineffective efficiency proposals on the backs of residents who have lived there for 100 years. Say, "You piece of shit, your father's houses, you want to expropriate them for the paths." So here it is for you, just because you are a thief. You ambushed all the residents of Kiryat Haim who live on these paths and are sick or have been sick. If they or their family members are sick, help them find the courage to contact a large law firm outside of Haifa that will sue the municipality and the state for you. A joint lawsuit in such sums that even if you receive an amount, you will still have a normal piece of land where you lost the best part of your life. Don't give up, it's a combination of silence here.
