(haipo) – A new community initiative in Haifa is taking shape. Residents of the Kiryat Eliezer neighborhood in Haifa are currently establishing the "The Bar - Eliezer", a collaborative bar, based on full community ownership and joint management. The project, which was born at the initiative of the municipality but is implemented entirely by the residents, is expected to become an active social meeting point on the promenade, with an emphasis on partnership, joint decision-making and strengthening the community fabric.
The new community bar in Kiryat Eliezer is currently in an advanced construction process, and the name "Bar Eliezer" was chosen for it, with the neighborhood residents themselves behind the initiative, including Judith Minkow, who plays a central role on the project's executive committee. According to her, this is a unique model in which the municipality does not finance the project, but rather serves only as a supporting factor through a professional facilitator for the process.
Ownership of the bar will be entirely collaborative: anyone interested in taking part will be able to purchase just one “share” for 500 shekels, thereby becoming a full partner in decision-making. Each member of the bar will be given the opportunity to choose their level of involvement, from participating in decisions about events, to designing the space and visibility of the place.

According to Minkov, the goal of the model is to create a true community space where residents are not only consumers but also owners. As of the date of publication, the community bar already has about 50 members, and further expansion is expected as the project progresses. In addition to purchasing shares, support will also be possible through community loans to the bar, in a mechanism based on prime interest, as part of the attempt to build an independent and sustainable economic model.
The venture draws inspiration, among other things, from similar initiatives such as “Bar Galim,” but aims to develop an independent model that will be tailored to the needs of the residents of Kiryat Eliezer. Any profits, if any, will be returned to the community and invested in local events and activities at the bar, including stand-up evenings, community games, cultural gatherings, and more, according to the demand and wishes of the members.
At this stage, the residents are working to create permanent activity in a temporary space in the promenade area, until a permanent physical location for the bar is found. The goal is to hold events once every two weeks, with the first official event for the community bar expected to take place on May 14, 2026.
The project emphasizes flexibility and adaptability to the local population: events for families, young people, children or any other audience that expresses interest. “Our goal is to create a lively, open and accessible place for residents that connects people and creates a real sense of belonging to the neighborhood,” say the initiators.
If the plan is successful, the residents hope to turn the bar into a community magnet in Kiryat Eliezer, a daily, social and cultural meeting place, run by and for the residents.

Everything is good in the neighborhood, it's a real paradise, there's no crime, schools aren't closing... kindergartens aren't closing... there's no homeless people, there's no dirt, there's pruning, a community center that seems to be "blooming" and that's what was missing here, a "bar"
For the wandering youth, for the many alcoholics. Apparently this website and the reporter about bankruptcy chose to write such a false article without a thorough investigation. I wonder if the municipality is actually in favor of this disgrace?

Wow!!! What a wonderful initiative 🙂
A place that will be used by as many residents in the neighborhood as possible to sit and celebrate together, it's really fun!!
And also to meet new people and good neighbors around.
good luck

Will it be open on Saturdays and holidays? We are recipients of National Insurance benefits. Will there be discounts? On the stock or on future prices?
Will there be religious classes at the bar? Rabbis and revelry?
😍The veteran educator says: It's better to invest in a community "youth club", so that the "neighborhood kids" don't wander around bored and then drink Red Bull & smoke "electronic cigarettes" and other "Mar'in-Bishin" like them...
BAR = "vodka"/"beer" etc.
So, "What good did the wise men do with their rules"?!?!?!? = Education for the "culture" of the "Gentiles"!!!😭
* Anyone who wants a "bar" and/or a "cafe" = there are enough such "businesses" in Beautiful Haifa✨️
And there is no point in harming their livelihood…!!!@
Where is the address of the bar?
It's a shame your newspaper relies on AI.
What is this in a residential neighborhood? What is it that once again encourages drunks? This is the culture and values that are going to educate the children in the neighborhood. What do they want to be another mine of violence because of drunks? And what about the noise of people at night and the music? The Haifa Municipality has really gone off the rails.
Repentance is the core of Torah for those who don't know.
You fell into the trap again.
That's fun to hear. Go eat pork at Mania's.
In Amtz? I find it hard to believe that the mainstream would invest in a bar. Where did you get this information? I would be happy to receive a reference
