(haipo) The Haifa City Council will convene on Tuesday evening, May 5, 2026 at 6:00 PM for a multi-topic meeting, with a long list of substantive issues on the agenda relating to the city's management and its economic and social policies. The meeting will be broadcast live on Haifa.
Suggestions for order:
- The 100-day plan on education, where is it? – The proposal of Council Member Eli Ben Dayan.
- Establishing a municipal ethics committee for members of the Haifa City Council – proposal by council members Tatiana John, Artyom Kharchenko and Yaakov Borovsky.
- Assistance to small business owners in Haifa in light of the "Harry's Roar" war, March 2026 – proposal by Council Member Rani Bender.
- Due to a serious management failure in the engineering department, the municipality does not enforce any construction violations in the city as a policy - a proposal by council members Attorney David Etzioni and Zeev Sonenzon.
In addition to the motions for order, the meeting will discuss a number of planning and economic issues, including approvals for the lease of underground areas for access to residential lots, the sale of building rights, and approval of minutes of allocation committees. Also on the agenda: approval of the sale of lease rights in city lots to the economic company, updating the lease agreement policy at the port campus, and approval of the Finance Committee's decisions from recent months.
In the area of municipal regulation, council members are expected to discuss granting exemption from the fee for placing chairs and tables for businesses, easing the payment of signage fees, and continuing to collect a garbage removal fee, steps that will have a direct impact on the city's business sector.
In addition, appointments and authorizations will be brought for approval, including the certification of professional entities in the fields of building preservation, construction supervision and dangerous buildings, as well as the certification of multi-purpose inspectors. In addition, the extension of service for a municipal employee beyond retirement age will be discussed.

Sell the Sammy Ofer Stadium!! Every year you lose tens of millions at the expense of the residents who already pay the highest property taxes in the country..
Let us announce to the public in which areas of Haifa the table setting fee is paid…
This could, of course, create an explosion on a Chernobyl scale when the suckers who pay discover that in other areas where the mayor needs votes, no one has even heard of such a fee.
Which brave council member will reveal the data and where they pay and how much in each place???
