(haipo) – The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Environmental Protection are reporting unusual results in water sampling conducted to examine the pollution status of certain streams in the north of the country and are therefore informing travelers and local authorities that entering these streams may be dangerous.
Ministry of Health and Ministry of Environmental Protection:
The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Environmental Protection inform the traveling public and regional and local councils of unusual results in water sampling carried out to examine the pollution status in streams in the north. Bacterial tests in samples taken on December 8, 2025, found results in several streams in the north that deviate from the Ministry of Health recommendations (400 fecal coliforms in 100 ml) and indicate the presence of water pollution.
In light of the results obtained, entering the lower streams may be dangerous until the sampling results obtained are normal and stable:
- Hatzbani – the hydroelectric station and the estuary into the Jordan.
- Jordan – from Joseph's Bridge to the mouth of the Sea of Galilee.
- Jewish.
- Gilbon.
- The hexagon pool.
- Tzalomon – the flour mill.
- Kziv* - Ein Tamir Pool, Hadalvim Pool, Ein Hadallit and Ein Ziv.
*The Ministry of Environmental Protection has not found a known source of pollution in the streams. However, it is possible that the abnormalities in the Kziv Stream are due to erosion in the stream water originating from rainfall.
Normally, sampling is done from a sample once every two weeks through Nature and Parks Authority inspectors, at fixed sampling points in the northern streams (in the Upper Galilee, the Golan, and the Western Galilee). The dots represent a waterfall, a pond or a section of a stream. The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Environmental Protection continue sampling and monitoring and will update as necessary.
