(haipo) – In just a month, the documentary "Leviathan" will be released, a poignant and moving work by director Elia Schwartz, which documents the greatest environmental struggle Israel has ever known: the public opposition to the construction of the "Leviathan" gas rig off the coast of Mount Carmel.
Documentary cinema that overflows with truth and hope
Through the eyes of a 12-year-old girl, a story about the climate crisis, corruption, public health and, most importantly, the power of citizens to speak out is revealed. Now, just before the end of its journey, the film needs a final push to reach the general public in the best possible way. A new support campaign has been launched to raise the final budget to complete the film's production: music, color editing, sound and trailer. Every donation, small or large, will help make "The Whale" a tool for real social change.
Why is it important to support?
- Because it concerns us all: air quality, our health, public money, all of these are affected by decisions surrounding gas rigs.
- Because there is hope: the film presents the power of civil struggle, the connection between gas and the climate crisis, and the possibility of choosing renewable energy.
- Because cinema changes reality: "Whale" is not just a movie, it is a brave voice for the environment, health, and future of us all.
about the movie
- Produced by Droma Productions, supported by the Mekor Foundation, the Galilee Foundation and the New Film Fund.
- Selected to participate in Docaviv's creative lab and women's incubator.
- It is in the "rough cut" stage and needs 20,000 NIS to complete it.
How can we help?
Join the journey. Support the film. Share the campaign. Help us raise a voice that cannot be silenced.
It's time to raise our heads and let the "whale" reach safe shore.
For support of any amount 👉

A few questions about the matter: The rig has been operating for several years, so what will the film contribute to the fight against? Support for such a small amount compared to the investment in producing a film – is that what is missing?..where is the support from Greenpeace?,
