We are in the midst of the winter months, but the buds of spring are already here. This is an excellent time to go out into nature and enjoy the multitude of blossoms at their peak. The Kinneret Drainage and Streams Authority recommends a trip to the Acho Nov reserve, located in the south of the Golan, between the settlement of Nov and the settlement of Hispin, whose area extends over a plain of about 763 dunams and where more than 400 different types of flowers and plants grow.

Acho Nov
Acho Nov is one of the few places in Israel where you can enjoy the blossoms of the marsh iris that grows in nature and its blossoms are currently decorating the meadow - one of the rarest and most unique plants in Israel, which is in danger of extinction since there are not many places where the marshy soil is suitable for its cultivation. Its global distribution is concentrated in a limited area - from the northeastern part of the Mediterranean Sea to Israel.
In the past, this iris also grew in the Sharon marshes, in the Jezreel valley and in the lower Galilee, today mainly in Acho Nob. The blooming of the iris is expected to continue in the spring, but it should be remembered that the current winter is the warmest in 30 years, and it is possible that the flowering period will be shortened. Towards the end of March-April, the yellow urban yellow will begin to bloom in Acho Nov, and with the arrival of May, the Syrian canaries will also raise its head from the ground.

How to get there?
Drive on road 98 and continue after the Afik junction for about 10.4 km. Turn left towards Moshav Hispin, drive about 200 meters and turn left to the parking lot in the reserve.
