(haipo) - On Wednesday 06/07/2023, the highlight event of the fashion design department was held at the Wizo Haifa Academic Center: the annual fashion show, in which impressive models of the graduates of the fashion design department were presented.
Collections created from personal stories
As part of the event, about 24 graduates of the fashion design department at the Wizo Haifa Academic Center presented impressive collections they created in a spectacular fashion show. The collections were created from the students' personal stories or were based on social and environmental trends (issues that came up in the show: dealing with disabilities, car accidents, feminism and more).
Artificial intelligence and fashion: Osherat Papir's project
Among the collections presented, the most prominent collection was that of the student Osherat Papir, who deals with an innovative and talked about topic called "artificial fashion".
The collection examines the combination between artificial intelligence and the creativity of a fashion designer, focusing on the role of human collaboration in the development of AI models. The project merges existing models made during the fashion design degree studies with computer programs based on artificial intelligence.
The models that were designed were created with visual and technical meticulousness until they fit perfectly. In her work, Papier highlights the exciting potential for collaboration between humans and AI that ultimately depends on humans.

"Genetic echo": Bar Elboim's project
Another interesting collection is the Elboim collection, called "Genetic Resonance". The collection focuses on a field of biology called epigenetics, which deals with the genetic inheritance of the psyche that reverberates through generations. Elboim chose to convey the issue through a combination of duplicated and flickering geometric forms that produce an effect of floating fragile reverberation, moving between intact and disintegrating. The project seeks to raise awareness of the importance of mental health care for future generations.

Dr. Rachel Getz-Salomon, head of the fashion design department at Vizzo Haifa:
"The projects presented this year present a very wide range of design work, and reflect the versatility and breadth of design expression to which we strive in fashion studies in the department. I am very proud of the results; the students were not afraid to touch painful places, deal with explosive issues and confront burning questions in the identity, Israeli and human space We invite you to meet the works and see how fashion makes it possible to learn, challenge and be an opening for rethinking for all of us."
