(haipo) - The westerly wind that blew today in Haifa raised the sea waves to a height of about 60 cm. A sweeping current was created, which in some sections of the beach is a breaching current (swept into the sea). A mother and her family who were bathing at an undeclared beach were swept into the sea. The rescuers of Haifa saved their lives. Rip currents are deceptive, because in the region of the deep-sweeping current, the sea usually looks calm and quiet (see explanation below).
The Haifa Municipality informed Lahi Pa - the News Corporation:
A short time ago (Friday evening, 16/6/23) a mother entered the sea at an undeclared beach with a 3-year-old girl who was on a floatation wheel. A few minutes later, the two began to drift in the currents of the sea.
The manager of station 6 on the student beach, Yossi Ariel, recognized the danger and due to the great distance from the station, he sent the lifeguards, Khalil Darvish and Rauf Attallah, on a jet ski towards them.
While the rescue team rushed towards the mother and her little daughter, the mother began to cry for help and in response three citizens who were on the beach tried to help her, but immediately they too began to be swept away by the strong current.
Upon the arrival of the rescuers to the bathers who were swept away, lifeguard Rauf jumped towards four of the bathers with the help of a lifebuoy, calmed them down and with great effort pulled the four to safety. At the same time, the other lifeguard using the jet ski rescued one of the bathers, who was exhausted, and carried him towards the beach. He then returned to the lifeguard who was in the water, in order to make sure that all the bathers reached the shore safely.
The director of the beach department in the Haifa municipality, Hilik Amsalem, praised the high vigilance and professional and quick response of the lifeguard station staff and called on the public not to enter the sea without the supervision of a lifeguard.
What is inrush current anyway?
(by Motty Mendelsohn)

A rip current is created when waves coming from the southwest hit the coastline, return towards the depth of the sea in a relatively straight line and cause the formation of a channel. The more powerful the wave, the deeper the channel that is formed and the harder it will be to get out of. The lifeguards demarcate the area of the rip currents whose position changes throughout the day (the sea is dynamic, remember?), by placing black flags that indicate to bathers the limits of the area allowed for bathing.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha what an unbelievable cringe picture
Bless these good guys. Have a good weekⁿ

Where is the news here?
Doctors save the sick, firefighters save the trapped, lifeguards save the drowning.
This is their job and for that they receive tens of thousands of shekels.
The meaning of a declared beach is that the entry of bathers is prohibited, and this still does not solve the rescue forces and the police instead of ignoring their existence.
How is it possible that Atalit and the Carmel Castle do not have declared beaches?
Why should the residents of Haifa finance 14 declared beaches for the entire region and suffer traffic jams and overcrowding because of municipalities that know how to build neighborhoods but do not develop their coastline and send the residents to Haifa?
Why won't the Haifa municipality collect a fee in the beach parking lots and give parking at a 75% discount to Haifa residents like the beach estates to residents like Tel Aviv?
Why won't the Haifa municipality collect a fee from tourist buses that pass through it and take advantage of it by causing traffic jams without contributing anything to the city's economy? At Stella Maris? On the Louis Promenade? In the German colony? In the Bahá'í gardens?
How is it possible that we are a city where tourist buses stop for three hours for free everywhere but the residents pay in blue and white??
Why should the residents of Haifa pay??! Even so, this city is dying and there is negative immigration, students who finish studying immediately run away from here, there are no places for recreation, no employment. So the only normal thing you suggest to take?
Bless these good guys.
Shabbat Shalom.
