(haipo) Political, social, moral and personal boundaries are at the center of the group exhibition "There is a limit to every limit.”, which will open in November at the Sadak Gallery in the Hadar neighborhood in Haifa. Ten artists will present works that examine the border not only as a line separating spaces, but also as a place of tension, conflict and questions about freedom, power and freedom of expression. The exhibition is curated by Haifa artist Roni Pixler, a graduate of the Art Academy.
Between freedom of expression and the line that must not be crossed
The concept of “border” is usually perceived as a clear line separating one place from another, between what is permitted and forbidden, or between what is acceptable and what is intolerable. The exhibition “There is a limit to every limit” seeks to broaden the perspective and examine the border as a space where poetic, ethical, social, political, and policy questions arise.
In the text accompanying the exhibition, Pixler points to the extreme political reality and the way in which boundaries are repeatedly stretched, to the point where the fear of crossing them can turn into indifference. At the same time, he addresses the tension between the liberal discourse on openness and freedom and the actual restrictions imposed on freedom of expression and the possibility of making an unusual voice heard.
The exhibition seeks to examine this tension and ask what determines where the border is drawn, who is authorized to define it, and what happens when it is crossed or undermined.
Ten artists, different perspectives
Ten artists will participate in the exhibition: Ira Polonsky, Elia Ben Ner, Assad Azi, Efrat Gal-Nur, Jaber Karakra, Veronica Bernard, Tal Hagai, Noa Neta Moati, Noa Pardo and Roni Pixler.
Their works will be presented in a joint framework that seeks to address boundaries and their implications, and to open a space for observation and discussion of questions concerning society and the individual.
Pixler, who primarily works in figurative painting and etching, works with collections of images from the Internet that relate to masculine rituals, repressed homoeroticism, and violence. His artistic work deals, among other things, with the intersection of images, identity, and social mechanisms.
Sadek Gallery: A space for contemporary art in Hadar
The exhibition will be presented at the Sadek Gallery, an independent contemporary art gallery that opened in May 2026, in the Studio Reshet culture and art complex, in the Hadar neighborhood of Haifa.
The gallery's name also carries significance in the context of the exhibition. A crack is a disruption in a uniform surface, an opening that separates layers and reveals what lies beneath the surface. Sometimes it allows a ray of light to penetrate or a current to break through, and sometimes, when it appears at a point of weakness, it may expand and rupture the material.
This image fits into the idea underlying the exhibition: examining the places where the existing order cracks, boundaries are undermined, and tensions that are not always visible are revealed.
