(haipo) – The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure has published the fuel price update for September 2026, and consumers will feel the price increase as early as midnight between Monday and Tuesday. The price of a liter of 95-octane unleaded gasoline at self-service will rise to 8.25 NIS per liter, an increase of 16 Agorats from the previous month.
Price increase: combination of international market and local taxes
Director of the Fuel and Gas Administration, Batsheva Abuhatzira, explains that several factors have combined to cause the current increase: "One of the factors is the increase in the price of gasoline on the international market, which rose by about 6%. This increase was partially offset by a decrease of about 3% in the dollar exchange rate."In total, these changes led to a price increase of about 10 Agorat per liter. Added to this was a periodic increase in the excise tax, which added about 5 Agorat per liter, as well as a semi-annual update in the marketing margin, which added another Agora. Together, all of these factors created the total increase of 16 Agorat.
Full service add-on: It also becomes more expensive
The surcharge for full service at gas stations will also increase by one penny, following the update to the minimum wage. The new price will be 26 pennies per liter (including VAT).

Price components breakdown: Excise continues to be the main component
According to the Ministry of Energy, the excise tax component makes up 44% of the price of a liter of gasoline at the station, the largest part of the price to the consumer. Next is the CIF price (international price), which makes up 33% of the cost, VAT makes up 15%, and the marketing expenses basket makes up 8%.
