The original news:
(haipo) – Sailing and surfing: Today, January 24, 2026, the Sailing Association Cruise, one of the winter season's water sports events, is taking place on the quiet coast in Haifa. Despite the gray weather and occasional rain, the cruise is underway as planned and attracts sailors, surfers and spectators from the region and across the country. The Haifa Sailing Club is hosting the event and is the center of lively activity on the coastline. Those of you who will look out towards the bay this morning will be able to see the sailors competing on the courses.
Later today we will update here with details about the winners of the competition.
Omri Hatzor – Haifa Sailing Surf Coach:
Weather conditions and field preparation
Today's weather conditions are characterized by heavy cloud cover, occasional rain, and unstable winds, which create a real challenge for the participants. During the start of the iQFoil windsurfers' race, winds of about 12 knots are expected, which is about 22 km/h, along with noticeable waves (swells) and a temperature of only 13 degrees. Near the water, the feeling of cold is even lower and is estimated at about 8 degrees. The sailing club teams prepared in advance for the conditions, with increased safety measures and close maritime escort throughout the course.

Schedule and planned assignments
The competition opens in the late morning, with the iQFoil windsurfers launching in about half an hour, followed by the sailors in the various divisions at 11:00. Several cruises are expected to take place throughout the day, depending on the development of sea and wind conditions. The cruise organizers emphasize that the schedule is flexible and is intended primarily to maintain the safety of the participants, while attempting to allow fair and professional competition for all models and ages.
The participants and models in the competition
The association's sailing was attended by sailors and surfers of a particularly wide age range, from children as young as 5 to participants as old as 65, representing clubs from Tel Aviv, Herzliya, Acre and of course Haifa. A variety of models are participating in the competition, including regular and international Optimists, Laser, 29ers and iQFoil windsurfers. The combination of generations, models and experience levels creates a diverse and dynamic competition, reflecting the spirit of the sailing association and the centrality of water sports on the coasts of Israel.

In after instead of before… huh? Da!😍
